The 2080Ti has 21% more cores than the 1080Ti, excluding Tesla cores for ray tracing, yet it costs 100% more than 1080Ti's since the cheapest is £599 in the UK. I'm sure the GDDR6 will boost the performance more than the 21% increase in core count, but enough to justify the premium price tag for ray tracing that is rumoured to only be playable in 1080p?

Only time will tell.

I highly doubt they'd design it like that because that would hurt Nvidia in many ways.  Ray tracing itself was displayed in 1080p while the rest is whatever res you have it set OR it was done in a hastily manner for the big event.  I honestly don't know but I still don't think you can enable ray tracing while you game in only 1080p.  That I think would be embarrassing.

Time will tell is right.  Any day now for reviews and benchmarks.

I wasn't suggesting that you can't turn it on in resolutions above 1080, just that the leaked benchmarks show Shadow of the Tomb Raider running less than 60FPS with Ray Tracing enabled... in 1080p so any resolution higher than that would be unplayable. It could well be unoptimised games and a lacking driver support atm which is the contributor, but I doubt there will be miracles.

$1200 for a TI? Doesn't that anger you when you see a ridiculous price like this? And who here feels that these cards are nothing more than a place holder for 7nm? If true, then this would be a perfect example of a Cash Grab.

To be blunt, I'm actually surprised they can sell it so cheap.

Take this with a grain of salt but if this becomes reality, boy oh boy.

Faster than a Titan V for half of the price almost that was released not long ago?  It will be amazing if this holds any truth.

I'm starting to feel that the 2080 Ti fits the bill for a 1440p 120/144hz screen.  I don't know if I can justify the price though.

I think it can use more punch for a consistent 4K 144hz even though I know the drivers aren't mature yet but you won't get massive jumps in FPS regardless even when the drivers do normalize.  Average FPS I've seen over the years from before and after has been around 10.

I need some drinking to do......I mean thinking!

Since when did benchmarks start having this '1%' BS in it?
I want to know exactly the LOWEST frames in a game, as well as the most frames. That way I can see if the card is 'stable' or not for specific games I play.
1% doesnt tell me crud about the stutter I am going to see on a 120/144hz monitor when the game goes from 100fps down to 20fps in 1 frame, creating stutter.
Grrr, I will be mad at every benchmark I see with this in it.
Why not the old min/avg/max standard?

Oh I would love to have the RTX 2080 Ti, I just can't justify the $1,200 to put one in my hands.
