Title, im curious, i find that my laptop runs too hot running not too demanding games, for ex: BF4 1080p Medium Settings the CPU ramps up to 79-80 °C, whilst the GPU hovers around 70-78°C. But even on the desktop, the CPU hovers on 40 to 65 ish °C.

Hey Houragorn and welcome to the forums :)

I do not own this laptop but the temperatures seem normal for me because in a laptop everything is very close to each others so components do get hotter than a desktop PC.

If you dont own one already I suggest you get a laptop cooler plate like this one:

It'll help you keep your laptop cool even in hardcore BF4 slaughter sessions ;)

    Have a nice day!

Wow, I have that exact same cooler.. Exactly the same shape, colour, everything but different brand..

I DO NOT recommend that cooler.. The size can barely fit the EVGA SC 17 laptop and the fans are barely noticable..
Plastic quality is so-so (Not bad but not good), the 2 usb ports at the back seems that they wont last long..

Hard to find a good fan cooler for 17" laptops..

I've undervolted & underclocked my SC17 and running it at 3.4GHz, keeps the temps to mid 60s which is comfortable for on-lap use. Was running it at 3.7GHz in the colder months and it would peak at low 70s. Capping FPS or lowering graphical settings can lower the strain on the system and that will lower overall temps.

If you're using it on a desk or stand, those temps are in the safe range and you shouldn't be worried. The GPU is getting close to throttling at low 80s, though, so dropping the frequency might help the temps as well.

Do you all update to the latest BIOS, GFX Driver, etc?

I remember one of the update in the past cause the screen to go all black (Multiple users here reported the same thing).
Scared to update ever since. So the current Precision-X I have cant even save the setting for the Fan Temp.

So is it safe to update to the latest?

Thats what I do too. Cooler pad is always full when the laptop is on.
As for when gaming, I turn fan to max manually.

But I want to be able to set up the fan setting, since with my current precision x, it always reset my setting (and default setting is simply bad, dont know who in EVGA set it to that).
Probably the guy that sets it isnt a gamer.. lol..
