So after running and even having Project Server Problems I would run this Project alone as a CPU Project and not mix with other CPU Projects. Setting the number to allow only 1 to run may work in Mixed CPU Mode but the BOINC Client put the Task in Waiting to Run Status and takes much longer than needed to complete. I would say run Full Power when running this Project if you do run it.

To clarify some things: The work units deadline does NOT matter. It uses a trickle system and uploads the work as it goes. The work units themselves are basically worthless shells. The server end tells it everything it needs to know. So, even though the work units have a large deadline, these are basically because BOINC requires them. This is also why they don't keep work units in your history for very long. Even failed/errored work units may credit as they trickled the work up. You may even see work units get cancelled by the server because new parameters are being tested. Again, you get credit for the data trickled back already. They have experimented with the trickle system a few times adjusting it between 15 minutes and 1 hour intervals. The long deadline can indeed affect your work at other projects because if the deadline is too far out, it can cause the scheduler to not behave with other projects for a very long time. So, definitely play with your settings. The project also is a higher credit project.

Sorry, missed that part. My vision has been blurry today due to have a kidney stone in each kidney. Also, if it helps, people have suggested (though I've not tested to confirm) that the longer you leave the work unit running, the better it scores over time.

But it does suck that you have to abort the Tasks when you want to change to a Different Project.

I've seen the weird behavior with these tasks...where they don't play nice with other projects. Not sure if it's the long "Remaining (estimated)" times or the deadlines or a combo of both. Definitely will need to play around the settings to find a nice balance. cuarc001 My vision has been blurry today due to have a kidney stone in each kidney.
Hope they're small and you feel better soon.

Had surgery today. Long story short..the second ER visit they gave me meds that eliminated the 2 preferable ways of removal. So, they had to do the insert and scoop method.... So, the pain has essentially now moved to a more sensitive unavoidable place. Very painful to go to the bathroom now but at least I'm not in constant pain. That was the larger of the 2 and was 4mm in size. The other isn't of concern at this period in time and the doctor might get rid of it Thursday and might just let laying dogs lay. planetclown, I have found that running with 0 cache escalates those problems because if you have 1 work unit per core, it will not download more to keep the run time debt equal to other projects. So, it will continue to run until abort or deadline. app_config would probably be the wisest choice for those running multiple projects or just run these from with a VM that would be easier to control.
