Hi all,

I'm in the process of purchasing parts for a new, long-overdue build based around the Z370 Classified K mobo (I've just ordered it in fact). This will be paired with an i7 8700K proc.

I've been trying to do my due diligence on the RAM aspect of the build but I feel like this is where things can get hairy if you get it wrong. I'm looking for a 32GB kit for the work I do and would like for it to run at 3000mHz with CL15 (which appears quite possible).

The EVGA QVL for the mobo pointed me to this set at Newegg, F4-3000C15Q-32GVR, which seems to fit the bill except that there are no new reviews on it since Christmas of 2016(!).

I've also considered the Corsair Vengeance LPX kit, CMK32GX4M2B3000C15W, from Amazon. This also seems to fit the bill but does not show up under EVGA's QVL for suggested RAM.

To make me more paranoid about a bad purchase, some of these listings specifically state they are for the "Intel 100 series" so I don't know what kind of support the Z370 will have for it. I'm assuming I'll be fine with either kit and just have to play with the timings some if the XMP doesn't work stably but I'd still like to be real sure if I can - RAM's grown quite expensive since my last build in 2012 so I'd like to get it right.

Probably overthinking this but thought I'd ask anyways.

Apparently, DDR4 is DDR4. EVGA doesn't do manual memory timing optimizations, so the QVL is basically a list of tested memory kits. Any sensible DDR4 kit will work (anything that isn't 4000+MHz basically), but you may have to/want to adjust timings manually.

EDIT: If you want the absolutely best out of your rig, samsung B-die is what you want. Unfortunately, it's expensive and hard to identify as it's usually not advertised as B-die. This is a handy tool:

I carried my Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz RAM over from my Z270 build. Admittedly it is CAS 16 but I run 4 x 8GB sticks using its XMP profile @1T without any problems on a Z370 Classified k board.

I'm using Corsair Vengeance RGB 3000MHz C15 model. 4x8GB . Pretty good results so far. Download and create a bootable flash drive or CD of Memtest. Run it to verify your RAM has no errors.

Understood and thanks all. This gives me something more to go on - and peace of mind. I'll make a decision on one of the two kits above as they're in a good price range for me (unless the 32GTZ comes down in price some). A sale will make it an easy decision so I'm watching the big sites daily.

Parts should start arriving this weekend! Looks like I got the last Classified K from Newegg as they're showing "out of stock" today :)

So if anyone ever searches this forum asking the same question i did, I ended up going with 2x16GB sticks (32GB total) of G.SKILL TridentZ (F4-3000C15D-32GTZ) running at 3000mHz 15-15-15-35 (1.35v).

Physical install was a breeze on the Z370 (didn't realize you only have to open one end of the RAM bank on this mobo, not both!). BIOS read both sticks automatically at the out-of-the-box setting of 2666mHz. Assigned XMP1 and it immediately found the settings. Rebooted and all is running wonderfully.

Couldn't have been simpler.

Hello,

I installed a Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Gray 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 UDIMM (P/N: BLS2K16G4D240FSB) kit in my EVGA Z370 MICRO motherboard.  No issues noted.

I have 32gb Corsair Dominator 3200mhz Special Edition Blackout kit on my z370 but like JonSlow12125757 said, most quality kits from established vendors should work well on most motherboards. I have used Corsair since 1998 and I can't think of a time I had compatibility issue.

You are not aware how I'm jelous on Blackout 4x8GB owners...
That's best 4 kits of DDR4 ever launched, I don't care for size, for speed...

Dominator Platinum 3200MHz 2x 16GB CMD32GX4M2C3200C16 is my recommendation for Z370.
That's default dual channel kit and I didn't hear that not work in some of boards Z170/Z270/Z370.
Tested Latency 16-18-18-36 2T, in most case will work 15-15-15-36 1T.

I respect and GSkill effort and their records with highest overclocked kits.
But new expensive GSkill with RGB can't replace Dominator Platinum even without Light Bar.
I start to like motherboards with two DIMM slots and four DIMM slots with X chipset.
EVGA X299 Dark, EVGA Z370 Micro, Rampage VI Apex...
because in most situation 8 DIMMs for gamers look useless and wasting of money and harder to be stable and overclocked.

Another thought when buying memory is whether or not you want more bling in your rig. So if you do want more bling consider RGB memory.
