Classified K, new build. Installing an SSD as OS drive and am having issues.

The drive is Samsung 850 Evo and is connected to SATA port 3. Windows is being installed via retail USB sold by Microsoft.

Both of these things are visible in BIOS. I can see the SSD under Advanced>SATA Configuration in port 3.

I tab to Boot, then the boot priority drop-downs. Only standard options and the Windows USB Key are visible. I’m unable to see the Samsung 850 here.

Two SSDs have been tested. Two SATA cables and two SATA ports have been tested.

The customer support team is fantastic, but I am not progressing—frustrating.

Hoping someone can advise. Thanks!

Until the OS is install the SSD will not show up

Boot from the USB, follow the OS install selection, choose the SSD as your desired drive

Had to switch bios to legacy mode to stop endless boot to bios now all is good.

Thanks. This issue has been resolved, however, I am still unable to install windows. I will submit a ticket as a follow-up to my call with technical support.

Hi SSKKooommaa,
did you finally install the windows?  If so, how did you do it.  Thanks

I switched from UEFI to Legacy first--that got the SSD to show in boot priority. Then I decided to stop using the retail USB from microsoft and made an installation media instead. Got windows installed right after that.

My boot priority was the OS USB, Samsung SSD, Network. Since I was messing about so much with the settings, I switched from BIOS_1 to BIOS_2 for a fresh start. Didn't want to reset CMOS.
