Perhaps I just have horrible luck, but today another card has died...

Long story short bought a 1080 when it was released back in 2016      6/10/2016
Less than a year later my computer one day randomly shut off while I was using it and wouldn't start back up. Tried everything, even got a new power supply, but after replacing the card with an older card I discovered the 1080 was the problem.   Got it RMA'd  ~5/25/2017   (keep in mind i got a brand new corsair power supply alongside the card)

Today the same exact thing happened.  Was using my computer perfectly fine and then it randomly turned off. Went through troubleshooting and sure enough the GTX 1080 is dead...
And another RMA needed to be setup.

The crazy thing is I don't know if its anything I'm doing wrong or am I just getting extremely unlucky?   Perhaps I need to buy one of those high-tech surge protector thingies? *sigh*

Can you post a link to a picture of your setup? Might be bad airflow and the card running hot?
With your low post count put a space in the link otherwise it woun't let you post it

How dusty was the card cooler?

The intake vents on the front panel look a bit plugged up

I just had three AIO pumps die in the last month. Two H100i V2 and a Hybrid Cooler for the 1080 Ti FE. I have a pure sinewave 2200VA UPS. Sometimes stuff just happens. (So I bought a spare hybrid cooler for $99 while they still exist ) What brand and watt rating PSU did you buy?  As was mentioned high temps can shorten the life, but we're talking about running 80C+ for long periods.

    EVGA X99 FTWK / i7 6850K @ 4.5ghz / RTX 3080Ti FTW Ultra / 32GB Corsair LPX 3600mhz / Samsung 850Pro 256GB / Be Quiet BN516 Straight Power 12-1000w 80 Plus Platinum / Window 10 Pro
