https://www.ultragamerz.com/gtx-1180-to-make-good-quality-4k-pc-gaming-relatively-cheap/ The GTX 1180 is expected to feature 3584 Cuda Cores, 16GB of VRAM, 1600MHz core clock, 1800MHz boost clock, 13 TFLOPS, 16 Gbps Memory Speed, and a TDP of 170 to 200 watts. With these specs, the GTX 1180 is going to be revolutionary for the gaming market as 4k gaming at ultra settings 60 FPS would finally become possible on a GPU that costs less than $1000.I really hope that is true because the price would be good for such performance in my opinion.

It is getting to the point where, in order to build a nice rig, add $1000.00 for any kind of graphics performance.

Agreed!! While I welcome the new tech, I hope $1000 is not the new entry point. It's ok for the TITANS and such, but come on. Just my opinion, that counts for nothing, but I think $700 range is plenty for a GPU. {lower is always better}

I just paid about 500 dollars/Euros for a PC case. So 1000 dollars doesn't sound that bad.

I'm still happy with my $120 H440. Edit: Although, I looked it up and it is quite a spectacle to look at.

Yes, but many of us don't have RJ's money now.

It's not that I won't have the money saved up by then, I will..I just think 1k for just a video card is a bit obnoxious to play games....

I doubt it’ll be $1k. That rumor is always on the table before a potential release?
Next thing you know people, when the GTX 1780 is pending release, people will tell you it’s $4000.
Now that I think about it, the potential series names make less and less marketing sense after the 1180.
Maybe they’ll drop the GTX and opt for a more menenacing set of letters. The VRX series or something.
If I’m right about VRX, y’all owe me a VRX 180. Lulz

Although pretty decent specs and maybe revolutionary to achieve 4k ultra at 60fps, I just don't see myself ever going back to 60fps after experiencing 120+ fps. I guess I'll be sticking with my 1080ti and 1440p 144hz for a while longer. I also agree $1000 for xx80 will be pushing the limits and out of reach for most, I could see around $800 being more reasonable.

Really I don’t think that the 1180 would be considered a cheap part. It should allow for better 4K gaming but it’s still going to be expensive but probably more affordable and better quality parts will become more mainstream this generation then in past ones.

Considering that the purchasing power of the US $ is constantly falling (regardless of current "relative value"), $1000 for top level graphics entry isn't very surprising to me. Look at "premium" phones' price trends (IPhone, etc.). Although tech invariably gets cheaper, consumer top-level entry prices continue to rise, encouraged by the mega-rich buying ultra-level tech and showing it off through social media. Unwelcome, but not surprising. Edit:(The price trends are unwelcome, not people showing off) Also Edit: To the mod that edited my extremely mild and casual statement: I will never mention a specific government or a government's monetary policies that affect 100's of millions of people, ever again on this forum . However, EVGA may want to include a definition for "political" content in their forum TOS, as well as other rules lacking definitions. Looks a bit silly, honestly.

Sounds great, now I just need a 4K monitor at 144hz. And that's its own tier of expensive. =(

Before we get 4k 144hz, we need a displayport or HDMI connection with enough bandwidth to harness that much information.

I am hoping that the GTX 1180 /1180 Ti can handle 5K resolutions with 120 monitors My Sapphire Nitro+ AND Radeon RX Vega 64 Limited Edition MK-II handles 5K just fine when it comes to games with the Vulkan API, or photography & video editing. But if a GTX 1180 or 1180 Ti has that Reso in it's support list, I'd surely be in for that

I like how it is “less the $1000”. It’s the way you know that they are guessing at a price and figure the top end would be $999.99. So anything below that can be considered less then.

I get the feeling that these GPUs are delayed from the delay of GDDR6, and the cryptomining market creating a boom in the market eliminated the idea of releasing these earlier with GDDR5X. Chances are there will be a much shorter wait than there was for GTX10xx to GTX11xx since the development of their next GPUs are further along than they were when they launched GTX10xx.
