Down from dual 960s to one GTX460 with 2nd from latest driver Pak. 12 Gb, (specified Crucial), RAM. Drives; One OS one Data. Not much to complicate things.
Machine built years ago for folding proteins before GPU took over that work, wonderful computer till business software in use began requiring Win 10 more and more, -so, did the upgrade. Problems, but manged to run Win10 a year or so, tolerating the too-frequent issues. Just completed a new fresh build, from MS's own Win10~.iso.
Still freezing and crashing. Would the 2013 BIOS update be worth the gamble? Some used to warn against it, but I forget why.
Outboard live Ubuntu runs two dozen videos simultaneously for hours, while computer is being messed with on other programs with no problems.
Anyone familiar with a systemic problem running Win10?
TIA,
Bruce
Edited to add; I have just had a techie friend tell me he thought, (not totally sure), MS is not bothering to support some of these Xeons running in Win10 environs. That would be of interest if proven true!!!
This one uses E-5645s @ 3.6 GHz. which have been stable at that clock for many years, 7yrs, I think.
