GTX 970 SSC(04G-P4-3979-KB) in SLI, back of PCB on top card gets extremely hot(110C)

Is this normal behaviour? I know the spot I'm reading is directly above the VRM but 110C seems excessive. If I crank the fans to 100% I get that spot down to 100C~ but is that not still a bit too hot?
 
GPU Core temp on the top card stays at 80C and there is no throttling.

    Those MOSFETs are rated for up to 150c, so it is sort of normal, but also their current carrying capacity drops off sharply as their temperature increases, which means that they are more likely to burn out as they heat up, if the load remains constant.  You will see that a lot of these video cards have had MOSFETs burn out in the recent months.  Yours may burn out today, or in 10 years.  It's hard to guess.

    Yep, the top card always runs hotter than the bottom card.
