Hey guys,

I bought my SC15 a month or two ago when they were on sale. I replaced the HDD with a Samsung 860 Evo 1TB SSD. Otherwise, it is stock. It had been running beautifully, although it hadn't been used all that much. Anywho, I tried launching Path of Exile to update before taking it to work a few nights back and it kept throwing errors. After a bit of trouble shooting I located the culprit in the Device Manager. The GTX 1060 is showing Error Code 43 in the device manager, thus disabling itself.

I have uninstalled the latest few versions of nvidia drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller. I have also installed the drivers from the SC15 drivers page even though they are from last year. I thought maybe my OS was corrupted so I even went as far as wiping both drives and installing a fresh copy. No dice!

Last night I also took the bottom cover of the laptop off to see if there were any blatant signs of something wrong. I also unplugged the battery from the laptop to discharge the capacitors with the hopes that at the very least that could fix the problem haha..

There are no signs of problems while on the desktop, no artifacts or blurriness or anything like that. Precision Mobile X will not launch as well but my guess is because the drivers are fubar.

Side note, I updated all the drivers for the laptop from the SC15 driver page and then went to the Intel website to get the absolute latest versions from their auto updater.

Any ideas before I put in an RMA ticket?

You said you did a clean install of Windows 10, but did you try updating the BIOS? I know some versions of the BIOS have issues with PXM as well.

I had 1.06 but upgraded to the beta bios a couple weeks ago to take advantage of the SATA600 change that would benefit my SSD but after seeing a few wonky things with it and other people having the same quirks, I downgraded back to 1.06

I also held in the Clear CMOS button on the bottom of the laptop for like 10 seconds.

Did you do a Factory Reset by going to the "Reset This PC" option, or did you download and reinstall Windows using the Media Creation tool?

I used Rufus and installed the iso onto a USB 3.0 flash drive that I've been using for multiple installs. I booted the USB drive and formatted the NVMe drive as well as the Samsung 860 Evo.

If you think it is defective, create a support ticket, and get the ball rolling towards the RMA process.

The support ticket link seems to be broken and just takes you back to the same page over and over again when you click login.

Received the replacement 1 week after they received mine. Works like a charm!

I am very satisfied with the whole process even though it sucks that I had to do it to begin with.
