Hello all, I was curious if anyone else has come across issues with their SC17 rebooting randomly? Event Viewer reveals Kernel-Power Event ID 41. This occurred on my replacement SC17, which I received a few days ago, and was also happening on my previous SC17. At the time I was downloading Rise Of The Tomb Raider on Steam, I came back to my laptop to discover it had rebooted. Any insight, help, or suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you. Update: The issue occurred once again. I got a BSOD: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED , and same Kernel-Power 41 Error. This reboot took place while browsing Chrome, with Starcraft II Tabbed out running in the background.

The problem may be coming from the latest nvidia driver. Try this one.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I updated from 381.78 to the recommended 391.35, so far my system has been stable, no random reboots or instabilities as of yet. I'll keep this thread up to date if any issues persist or are otherwise resolved.

Didn't know you were running an older driver. You'll most likely end up getting another bsod. Are you overclocking your laptop? If yes, I would recommend setting all hardware back to default settings. Do you leave evga precision running in the background? If yes, close it out.

Yeah oddly enough the 381.78 driver is what was loaded as default, perhaps automatically acquired by Win 10 when it was setup. I am not overclocking, PXM is set to Normal, everything is set to default frequencies, although I do use Fan Boost to keep the temps down. I've had PXM always running in the background, I updated it to 1.0.11 the other day, but I'll definitely close it out to see if that improves the stability.

Here's an update. I've had my SC17 on for the past 11 days, and no stability issues until yesterday and this morning. Another Kernel-Power error triggered a reboot, however this occurred when I was away and didn't catch the BSOD. A few moments ago, while web browsing and download Max Payne 3 via Steam I got a BSOD with CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION as the stop code; PXM was closed out and not running at the time. You called it, still experiencing some problems with BSOD's. Is there anything else you might recommend to try? Thank you very much for your input, help, and suggestions.

It appears to be related to some driver issue/conflict. If all else fails, I would recommend clean install of Windows 10 LTSB edition. Before doing that, you should reset/revert to default all the mods/bios settings. And also revert to 1.06 bios mode, which is stable as per general consensus. Proceed to windows installation. Disable windows & drivers update as soon as you are done installing it, before connecting to internet. This is important as we don't want Windows to handle our driver installation/update. Now, you should download & install antivirus, and update it. And then after restart, use Snappy Driver tool to check for all the drivers on your system. Restart, and then install evga overclocking mobile software.

CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION could mean your ram is defective, or the ram voltage isn't set correctly. Use memtest86 to check your ram, and make sure your ram voltage is set correctly inside the bios. You can use bluescreenview to see all your blue screen errors.

@xvga1 Thank's for the suggestion, I'll keep that in mind to try. @Sajin I just finished up running Memtest86 in default configuration (4 test cycles, Tests 0-13) with a total of 543 errors detected, all of which occurred during Test 13 (Hammer Test), the end result indicated as FAIL. Voltage settings in BIOS are configured to normal, multiplier profile is Automatic and memory frequency is Auto; Voltage seems correct, BIOS measuring RAM voltage as 1.20V to 1.21V. By these indications perhaps the RAM has been resulting in these various corruption errors and instabilities then, unless there may be reason to suspect otherwise. That being the case, would you recommend I discuss this with tech support and seek an RMA to have the RAM replaced? BlueScreenView shows 4 BSOD's, 3 of which list the Bug Check Strings; DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER; KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED; SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. All 4 BSOD's Caused By Driver ntoskrnl.exe Thank you once again, this seems to be good progress being made in diagnosing the issue.

Yes, you definitely need to contact support to tell them you need to have your ram replaced as it's defective, or you could just replace the ram yourself.
