I really hope after tomorrow that its not a MP/MMORPG or I am not touching it with a ten foot pole. If its like a New Vegas spin off I will be all over it honestly.

West Virginia though? C'mon, that's like trying to create a fine wine with table grapes...

Surely they had better regions of the US to pick from... I mean... Hawaii with Pearl Harbor and volcanos etc would be cool~!

    Lookup the Xbox sneak peek.

Todd Howard says its 4x the size of Fallout 4. No discussion on game play though whether its a normal fallout game or mmo etc.

How I hope its a normal fallout game but with co-op. It would be so much fun to run fallout similar to borderlands, get 2-4 friends together to work through side quests.

Also I think the reason they chose West Virginia is because supposedly congress (the real congress) was building a fallout shelter thereabouts during the cold war.

Also I have been listening to the live stream for the past several minutes and all they music they have been playing is doom type music. Lots of metal trashing and bass. I sure hope they announce Doom II

They probably still will get in the way, stuck behind things and not fallow or run directly into gunfire just like the A.I. does.

    Re: Fallout 76 Teaser 2018/06/11 09:32:25 (permalink)
This will be far from a blast. As a modder, and someone who has put over 1k hours in each Bethesda TES type game since Morrowind here is why.
Always online, So no real single real single player, no real saving, having to deal with all kinds of people. The helpful and the greifer that does it for the LULz. It is Bethesda they have relied on the modding community to fix their stuff unofficial patches/fixes/tweaks for over a decade for over sixteen years you can throw that out of the window. ALL of their games are still bugged today and require some sort of patch or fix from the modding community hard fact.
There is no story other than you are in Vault 76 in West Virginia a control vault and the doors open 20 something years later as the plan for you to go and try to fix the world. That's it you will have some settlement defense quest,  from both players and NPC's. Since it is always online and on Bethesda's servers the same one that host their site, their creation club and launcher client. The same one that could not handle the influx of traffic last night and crashed because they got swamp attacked by people. Even in the games with the Creation Club you could not even access the in game store. That is not a good sign for someone about to put out a massive multiplayer survival game.

They trolled the hardcore fans on the beating the dead horse comment last night, was amazingly funny but it will have consequences. They also trolled the modders the ones that have kept their sales up for the past 16 years making 16 to almost three year old games today still sell like hot cakes. Todd Howard has become very arrogant and has forgotten without the modders they would had failed. That is a fact, people cannot play their games because of bugs or they get bored that's it, you lost a customer. They are the only company to achieve being able to sell their game at 19.99 even after 16 years that people buy in mass. But those modders know how to code, know their engine inside out, so they will be making the grief tool sets god mod, unlimited ammo, teleportation, Nuke Silo auto control hacks to just nuclear attacks. Then back to the no third party mods, they already pissed in the modders cheerios not once but twice so far, first with valve and the online mods. Valve caved it received so much back lash, then the Creation Club and Bethesda said ok we do what we want. Now this being 100% online that means no third party mods, it also means more Mods for Bethesda to sell in the Creation Club also another middle finger and black eye to the modding community. The modders and especially the modding coders are going to go out of their way to grief Bethesda at this point as their return middle finger.

That's ok, I'm not a modder but I still think it'll be fun. I always thought it would be fun in a multiplayer setting with the ability to build. We'll see when it releases.

Absolutely agree.  I have no interest in online only multiplayer mode.
I want to be able to jump into a single player game at a whim, play for 30 minutes to 1 hour and save then quit.
Not to mention I have zero interest in "joining others" playing online.  Just don't have the time anymore.
Big time fail in my humble opinion.  Was ESO a success?

These guys went behind the scenes to interview Bethesda staff. They also did a vid on the history of Bethesda with the same kind of interview. Pretty interesting stuff. Check them out Noclip on You Tube.

I'm trying to keep an open mind about the game, it might be good.

Wow... Bethesda... way to kill a franchise. You tried that sh*t with Elder Scrolls Online and look where it got ya!

No interest in this, and very disappointed, I'll be passing on this garbage.

Apparently the MMORPG was a major success, but I hated it. The hot things in gaming these days really don't appeal to me. I think I'm too old and not an idiot. The ridiculous rise of "e-sports" and shill streaming of games designed around chance/gambling just doesn't appeal to me. It feels like the actual game is the least important thing now days and the commercialization around it is the real goal. Get it streamed, get sponsors, build it up to sell the idea of watching it and get consumers from all different angles. Reminds me a lot about other entertainment industries where the core product is just a means to sell the real money makers.

Yup Fearpoint is always spot on with his assessment that's why I dig reading his posts, couldn't agree more, nor could I have said it better.

I will skip over this one.  I'm only interested in the full single-player experience.
