Hello all,

Today (22 august 2017) I build my totally new system, with this material
X99 FTW K (with original BIOS 2.01 updated 2.03 - the last - )
I7 6850 K (on auto setting)
2*8 Go   KFA² DDR4
kfa2.com/kfa2/ram/kfa2-hof-ddr4-3600.html
Note : Yes, I am in Dual channel, not in Quad channel

I would make the XMP profil (is logicial, this RAM are expansive), but is impossible !! I have infinit reboot when I apply the XMP setting.
I make a video, I think is a better explication than a text :

dailymotion.com/video/x5xrzfi   (copy paste on your favorit search web, for understand reason, the totally line is blocked here)

I try to apply voltage setting :
1,35 V
1,36 V
1,37 V
1,39 V
I not try 1,4V (on all voltage, always infinit reboot)

I try in manual setting (with no XMP), but I have the same effect....

Please help me !

Make sure when you're using this RAM that your  base clock isn't being increased from the default 100 mhz to 125 mhz.

So, I just test at 3200 Mhz, and with this setting, the computer boot and no problem.
    Is a good point.
And yes, the BCLK is at 100 Mhz (and PEG/DMI ratio is on "auto") (on overcloking section / BCLK overcloking)

Edit : I try at 3400 Mhz, and I have infinit reboot... -with same setting to 3200 Mhz.

That is a mystery, i see the Note of bios, 2.02 apport new frequency RAM support (included 3400 - 3600 and 3800 Mhz).

Your CPU's memory controller might not be able to work with 3400 or 3600MHz speeds.

You might be able to tighten up the timings if you are stable at 3200MHz, which is more beneficial for most user tasks.

From what I know about that platform (which is some, not a lot) and what others have said, as well as what's stated in the X99 FTW manual on page 9 (below) is that the VSA Voltage Offset may need to be increased to run high speed memory..How much you need to increase the offset I don't exactly know but maybe 0.2v to 0.3v volts, maybe try increasing the offset in small increments of 0.05v to be safe..You can search for some Broadwell-E overclocking guides..I think that increasing the VSA Voltage Offset will allow your RAM to work with your CPU..I would set the RAM speed, timings and voltage manually in the BIOS to the manufacturer's specs and not use the XMP profile for now..That's all I can say on the matter..Good luck.

    • VSA Voltage Offset
    Voltage System Agent
VSA Offset Voltage increases the voltage threshold of the CPU integrated memory controller (IMC) and system control unit (SCU) voltage. High memory speeds over 2666 or BCLK overclocking may need increasing of this voltage.  Auto will adjust voltage depending on memory frequency, or the values may be entered manually or scroll through the options with the +/- keys.

    Ok, I will try today.

A question : Here, on EVGA forum, a person have a X99 FTW K and RAM up to 3200 Mhz (3400 or 3600 Mhz) ?
If yes, please help me with indicate your settings on the BIOS.

    Thx by advance

    Hello,

I try with settings VSA Voltage Offset :
    + 500 mV => fail
    + 998 mV => fail

Ok, now I try to OC the CPU

    Objective : 4,5 Ghz (I7 6850K)
    V core (adaptative) : 1,400 V not function

Edit : At 1,45 V, the computer function and I play in bf4 for test

Finally, I use 4,4 Ghz at 1,400 V for the moment (with XTU, 4,5 Ghz with 1,45 V make error and crash computer, and I not would use 1,5 V for destroy my cpu). I make CPU stress for the moment

That's a lot of volts for just 4.4 or 4.5.  I would play with 1.25-1.35 max and look for its sweet spot unless that's a really horrible OCer.  Don't go over 1.35-1.4v on air, even at that point might be a bit too much.  Pay attention to those temps.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

    Hello,

Unfortunaly, at 4,4 Ghz, with XTU during 2 hours => abort and reboot computer...

Now, I found the "perfect" settings :
    CPU : 4,3 Ghz with 1,305 V (XTU during 2 hours = OK)

    EDIT :
CPU : 4,2 Ghz with 1,250 V (computer game OK)

    Hello,

I have a question (on a different subject to the RAM). I see my FSB is not at 100 Mhz, but at 99.80 Mhz (on BIOS, is 100 Mhz). BIOS is always v2.03
You have the same problem on your X99 ftw k ?

Try this... Go to BIOS and load defaults (F5), then reboot to the BIOS again.  Now select the profile you have set up for the overclock you were using.  Reboot to Windows and see if that resolves it.

    Hello,

So, I try your manipulation, but no effect...
I update with the new BIOS (2.03 -> 2.05), and I have the same FSB at 99.80 Mhz.  A people contact me in private message, and he precise he have the same FSB… So Is perhaps the default FSB on this motherboard (100 mhz on Bios -> 99.80 Mhz in real)

I guess that it is possible.  If it bothers you to much, you could change your Bclk Frequency setting (in BIOS) from 100.00 to 100.05.  This way you'll end up just over the 100 mark instead of just under.

hey, you sure is a good idea to change the FSB (100.50Mhz) in the BIOS ? I heard all time is Dangerous to change FSB on X99.

I didn't suggest 100.50.  If you look at my post above, I suggested 100.05.  Also, I wouldn't recommend going over 101.00.

FYI, there's nothing wrong with what your stock settings are (99.80).  I suggested 100.05 in case you have some OCD about it being just under 100.  I have ran my system everyday at 100.05 for over 2 years now.

So I try your solution : 100.05 Mhz (and not 100.50, same my last message), and that function for the moment !

Yes, and I will try next Week with long video game session if is Always OK at this FSB (I know is ok for 4.2 Ghz, but not with this FSB).

Just, with the last BIOS, Always the same problem with 3200 Mhz Max (and not 3600 Mhz), but I understand is a limitation by the CPU platform (EVGA annonce support to 4000 mhz, but I think is impossible, they never publish a x99 + 3600 or 4000 Mhz RAM Screenshot)

Yes, you can use 100.05 as your Bclock frequency setting (FSB) for any multiplier you use (40, 41, 44, etc.).  Even stock clocks... All day, everyday.
