One of my EVGA 650 G3 Supernova PSU's is having an issue. It is making a clicking noise. I am unsure if it is the fan or something else. This is now the 5th out of 7 EVGA products I own that have needed replacement. As usual, EVGA CS are being jackasses and won't answer simple questions while trying their best to wiggle their way out of an RMA. Same old story with them; not much has changed it seems. Which is why I decided to come to the forums for a more clear response:

Can someone in plain English tell me what the requirements of the PSU RMA shipping are? Do I have to send it back in the retail box? If I don't use the retail box, are there any packaging requirements? I don't want EVGA to disqualify my RMA because it I didn't follow a very specific packaging requirement. EVGA claims requirements will only be sent once an RMA is approved, locking me into paying for a replacement.

I would like to know the actual cost beforehand because if it requires the retail packaging to be sent back and I would have to spend roughly 40% the cost of a new Seasonic PSU. EVGA won't cover the defective SATA cable, which means I have to spend another $10 as well for a replacement cable as well. That is why I'd like a to calculate return costs before hand. No reason to wait 7-10 days for a replacement, get a refurb unit, when I can spend $50 more and get a brand new Seasonic with with all accessories guaranteed to work.

Thanks for the reply. I have some other questions if you don't mind me asking because CS seems to ignore them:

    1) How do I initiate a Standard Cross Ship RMA?

    2) Before I pay, roughly how much will the Collateral cost me? Full MSRP of the product? Less?

    3) Does the 14 day RMA window start the moment the RMA is initiated?

    4) Does the 14 day RMA window include shipping time? I fear by the time I pay the collateral, test the replacement unit, find time to drop off the package, and wait for the shipping courier to deliver said package the 14 days will be up and EVGA will not refund my collateral. Has anyone ever had that happen to them? Shipping courier takes a while/has a delay and EVGA won't issue the refund?

    Any help would be great.

    1. https://www.evga.com/support/RMA.asp (Select Standard Cross Ship RMA when given the option)
    2. Full MSRP.
    3. From rma approval date.
    4. The return window is actually 45 days. I did a cross ship rma on my gpu on January 8th of this year, and the e-mail I received from evga stated I had 45 days to return the card.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't see the Cross Ship RMA option (I only had the option for standard). I suppose I should cancel the current RMA and retry?

    45 days would be great.

Over here it does mention 14 days:

Hopefully it is actually 45. I just don't want it to take half the RMA period to get the replacement and have the RMA arrive a day late. Last thing I want is to get stuck paying full MSRP for a refurbished unit which still has a faulty SATA cable (not covered by warranty).

I've just been informed that the return period is actually 14 days. If you believe you're going to miss that 14 day window please contact support, and let them know that way they can work with you.
