I've played/bought every iteration of Battlefield since Battlefield 1942. Single Player or not if they don't bring back dedicated servers w/Admin (kick) privileges, clan support, and battlelog where I can check server pings, players in the game and their stats, and current game team scores I will not waste another penny. Nothing I hate more than losing time joining a server to find a lopsided match with cheats ruining the game. All which could be checked before entering a server before BF1 through battlelog. To regress in this manner is unforgivable. If the only resort is SP, it has to be stellar which Battlefield hasn't gotten right in a long time. I paid well over 100 bucks for BF1 and barely have 200 hours playing it because of the abortion it is. The childish console crap with fancy animations for loot boxes is a total waste of time and effort and has nothing to do with making a good game. All of it has got to go, or they are catering to a crowd I don't want to be associated with.

I agree , but you & I both know none of that is going to happen.....

You said a whole lot of truth there. Not being able to see the progress of a game etc as you wrote I've been playing the series for so long I can't even remember my first one BF2 who knows.

No they were not. The worst single player of the franchise by far. So bad I couldn't even finish it. Everything is scripted with tiny paths you're supposed to stay within while you watch the worst AI ever shoot each other for eternity because they have no impact on what occurs which destroys the whole concept you're part of a larger battle. Every year it gets worse and worse and yet EA puts more focus on it at the expense of the multiplayer which is why everyone buys the games. Battlefield 1 was a mess, even more so than Battlefield 4. They still have things in beta such as the hilarious absurd competitive 5v5 mode. They had to rush out content and are now giving away paid content for free.
 
EA destroyed the franchise. DICE is a mess. The franchise needs a reboot to focus on what made the franchise unique and enjoyable instead of all of the paid DLC garbage and removal of core game features while replacing them with a whole bunch of game modes which nobody plays or cares about. If the next Battlefield game doesn't include some sort of battle royal mode I'd be shocked because that is the type of filth I expect from Battlefield games now. 

Great. More and more I've been veering away from multiplayer. Cheats, crap servers, bad matching, pay to win.... it's just not wprth my time anymore.

Total garbage, but I wasn't surprised.
On the plus side most WW2's vets are dead, so they don't have to see a nation that is self destructing SJW up one of the most important wars in human history.

"Company" is likey a battle royale like game mode and I'm sure they will complete the bastardization with improved matchmaking.
They will be hearding the masses of duped idiots along the path they choose trickling out new maps and monthly content meaning you will no longer be able to join the maps you want to play or avoid the ones you don't like. But yea! We don't have to pay for DLC or pay for Premium. This is all geared for youngsters not the 15-year vet of the game like myself who also happens to be the ones who complain the most.  Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face this is insane.
 
I can't get over the Plays best on XB1 advertisement at the end of the reveal trailer. Thinks about that 2-year-old tech barely does 1080p well unless the game is gimped. That's what I want for my $3000 PC? Right
 

I like the single player. Often multiplayer only games are a flash of players that falls off quickly. With gaming it seems like if they don’t buy Call of Duty they buy the next Battlefield title. I wonder how many people will not play BF1 after this comes out. I am not really complaining though since after a year I got my value out of it just wish there was a reason to load the games ever again and single player gives that ten years later.

Jack Frags is a massive EA shill. If there were any justice in this so called "gaming community" people like him would have been shamed into the welfare office.
