BTW-I have a clean install of windows, but I can't find the C:Nvidia Installation folder. I think that's the correct path, but there's no Nvidia folder on C drive. Just don't see it. Is it now in a different place? Thanks.

The driver now cleans up after installing instead of leaving the install files. If you need to modify the install you can extract the driver using 7-zip for example into its own directory. This is new behavior from older drivers that used to leave the install files on the root drive.

Curious why this newest driver got "unstickied" and the older driver (397.64) got re-stickied?

I've been using them for a couple days now and no issue's that I've come across.  I'm not one to run benchmarks with every new driver that comes out so I don't have any performance stats to share.  But the install went fine and daily use along with several hours of gaming, no issue's.

OS is 1803 and I run Aida & AB all the while my system is running...

The drivers installed without a system hang or black screen finally. However, the Neowin forum is having an NVIDIA Roast on these drivers.

These drivers are pathetic! For example, I'm playing Sea of Thieves PC version in none SLI mode. The screen goes into stand-by mode and then back into game mode. I mean really NVIDIA? This is what I get for $1,600 in graphics cards? This is just another reason why gaming consoles kill pc sales. NVIDIA should legally be sued by the state attorney general for failing to meet consumer standards. NVIDIA makes claims that it will do this and that for us all. I have yet to see any real performance out of this lame purchase. The hardware is a year old. NVIDIA's developers are at best amature seasonal techs with a less then stellar approach to providing true WHQL drivers.

the lawsuit would fall flat as the jury would be made to note section 6 of the Geforce software disclaimer

Ahhh, those pesky disclaimers and user agreements that everyone agrees to and never read what they are agreeing to.

Go for it. Take the time to read their disclaimers before you complain about their support.

I just might. All aside, my XBOX ONE X runs better then my over priced pc due to broken windows builds and endless NVIDIA amateur league developer drivers. I think this PC still has a shot at something great! I just know that I shouldn't buy into all the hype these companies claim their products will do. It's clearly for marketing and order stats. I'm talking basic functionally for drivers. It's a complete joke! If your in support of that, then you are more less easily pleased with garbage anyone gives you! I set the bar high when I spend this kind of money on my setup. Disclaimers are one thing. Having no functionality is another. The last time I checked I thought I was onto something good with these latest drivers from NVIDIA. They lack anything remotely good.

The last time I checked I thought I was onto something good with these latest drivers from NVIDIA. They lack anything remotely good.

Ha-ha Should have gone the low road. I'm very happy with my PlayStation replacement.

This new driver I haven't run into any problems that I've notice so far. Ran MX VS ATV All Out and BF4 most of the weekend.

Edit: AMD is part of the reason I will not have anything to do with PS4. And the sub for online.

Eit2: To add, I also felt the PS3 was a glorified laptop so why move to PS4 I'll just move my gaming to a real computer with more capability.

Re: Nvidia driver 397.93 is out 2018/05/29 03:55:08 (permalink)
So far fine for me. No issues at all, installed approx 6 days ago. I always bench new drivers, but as usual nothing exciting to say.
Some folks hate benches, that's fair enough, I only use them to check stability, mainly curiosity to be honest, and supposed optimizations for new games.

I have had my 1080ti FTW3  for one year on June 1st.
I install most new drivers, and for me, with same settings a years worth of drivers have all scored the same. (Statisticly  no more than 1.5 or 2% difference for all of them) so in real world no difference. I install new ones because of two things. 1. Main reason. New specific game optimizations. 2. (secondary reason) If a driver does have problems a lot of discussion about it - until the next one comes along. Not a good reason I know, but with NV and Windows Stability is all I can expect.

I wonder what NV have done with the massive sales profits, partly due to miners, but whatever, they don't seem to hire the best software engineers. A shame, that. Still in my case I very rarely get a problem that can be, without doubt, attributed to drivers.

    Win 10 64 1803 edition, with GTX 1080ti FTW3 driver 397.93 Stable for me.

EDIT: DAM!! I forgot to write the most important bit. This driver does NOT fix the problems we all know about that happen when using AIDA, and other monitoring programs.
    Disgraceful.

It didn't clean things up for me in Win 7 Pro. It added yet another list of files from the new driver install to the previous driver list that C: drive NVIDIA folder, so now I've got 2 sets of trash sitting in that folder. Can those files within the NVIDIA folder be safely deleted, or even the entire folder itself? I do have an SSD for my OS drive and space is at a premium. I am happier with this driver however. I was occasionally getting an error where the driver stopped and recovered. One time it took so long to recover that Aferburner (I only use it for fan speed control, I don't overclock) lost it's connection with the GPU and I had to reboot, and that was while I was surfing, not playing a game.
