Is there anywhere I can get a 300w power supply for the SC17 1080? The 240 is going to be underpowered but it's the only one in the store right now. I sent a message to CS asking for one.

From what i have read, your laptop charger has 19.5V DC output. You are lucky, as many laptops use that. You should get a Dell 330W Delta Power Adapter. Check ebay as OEM 330W Dell chargers are selling for 50$. Search for 'OEM Y90RR' without quotes on ebay.

I like that I can buy a backup PSU if needed but having a second battery to carry around with you is a bit absurd for the SC15. After having taken it apart to swap out the HDD with an SSD, you're not going to break down the laptop out in the field.

Ha, I should have checked back here sooner - I'm pretty sure you're correct. I've got the Dell 330w LA330PM160 laying around for a small form factor PC build and whaddya know, it's the same plug and voltage. 19.5v and same DC barrel jack. It's even 16.9A versus 15.4A since it's 30W extra power. This might even give me some overclocking room.

Besides battery replacement, I am also concerned for fan replacement in the future, which is a part that sometimes needs replacement after a few years.

FWIW, for a small volume company, I have been very happy with EVGA support - particularly pushing out BIOS updates for Spectre, Display glitch, etc. and actively listening to customer feedback for selling the PSU accessory.

Still no word on batteries from EVGA. To make things worse, Laptop Battery continues to discharge despite shutdown properly, and EVGA has failed to resolve it. This has been replicated by several users in the concerned thread. Heading towards a disgusting Experience!

I got mail back from EVGA they are not going to be available in the uk but if they break they will be replaced just wanted a spare power adapter and battery. PS i did try and order the power adapter but EVGA wont ship it to the uk cant understand why its not in the EU store or ship to the uk i dont mind paying shipping.

There was a high fail rate of SC17 power supplies at one period of time. Some people had 2 or 3 fail in a row within 6 months. I think EVGA got the problem taken care of and they are reliable now. Another concern is the batteries since the SC15 and SC17 drains the batteries within a week while the laptop is unplugged and turned off. Lithium ion batteries are chemically less stable when fully charged or fully drained. Since the laptop drains the batteries within a week, storing it for extended periods of time in that state is likely to decrease the battery's life.

It is clear now that EVGA opted to leave the notebook segment, so consider the SC17 and SC15 as an experiment. They already said that they will support the laptop for the warranty period and then after that good luck.
