Just received my new SC15 and this thing is so pretty.  Never would have thought I would say that about a laptop.  I was going to put on the cool leather stickers on the bottom but I think I will leave those off so the cooling pad has more direct air flow to the lappy when playing games.  (Installing Steam and Uplay as I type)

I am amazed how fast his thing boots up.  It is faster than my Predator and that has Raid0

So yes I am excited with my new laptop as you can tell.  I got this one for my Rift.  I plan on playing both VR games and my Ghost Recon Wild-lands addiction.

One thing I have noticed when I am running it for general surfing and puzzle games the battery still does not last very long.  Does any one have any tips on battery life?

    Enjoy and game on!

When surfing on the laptop and if you are using a browser that uses hardware acceleration try turning that feature off in the browser.

I suppose you can try switching to the "DownClock" mode in PXM and turn off G-Sync in NVIDIA Control Panel.

Unfortunately due to the use of G-Sync it's not possible to use NVIDIA Optimus, and so the notebook is always using the GTX 1060 instead of the onboard video. This can lead to reduced battery life.

This laptop is more of a portable desktop replacement for on the go gamers that will be plugged in 99 percent of its life. If you wanted something with better battery life should’ve gotten one with Optimus support.

    Ah, that's why I can't install Intel's 630 drivers... makes sense.

Nothing I have noticed. I think the "slow" screen issue is widely overblown.

No not looking for Optimus just looking for tips.  I got it for games.  Was playing Wildlands last night and this thing is a beast!!  The fans do get a bit loud but that is to be expected in a thin lappy.  So impressed with his machine.

Screen brightness can consume a large chunk of power

How is your Nvidia Control panel & Windows - Power Options set ?

The mechanical HD always spinning takes power all the time -- SSD would be faster and use less than 1/10 the energy

Would setting refresh rate to 60hz do much for battery life?

Thanks for the tips.  I have worked out another 40 min.
Considering I started just over 2 hours and 20 min that is plenty of HoneyPop time  errr I mean Candy Crush  ^_-

It used to be the case that Chrome was battery hog and believe it or not, Edge was the efficiency champ. Not sure if that is still the case, but it's worth looking at.
