Did you check maybe someone offer 3200MHz with tighter latency C13, C14.
Maybe is better with them to go, I mean price, compatibility, performance are similar.
3200MHz C14 is close to 3600 C17. Small difference, but motherboard will deal easier.
How much is default X299, 2666?

I see you have in signature some 3200MHz memory.
Why you not try first with that RAM, if work run some test, compare with 3466-3600-3666MHz.
I doubt you will be able much more on X299.

If 3200MHz work perfectly I would maybe add more money to better CPU and use same 3200MHz from previous build.
I decide if I switch to X299 I will stay on 2666MHz, run fine, performance are not bad for my budget i7-5820K model...
they could work nice and on X299.

However G.Skill hasn't listed it on their compatibility page

This is my memory.  CL15 at 3200 is really fast.  The kit works perfectly and X299 FTW K has XMP profile for it.  Love this memory...

Yea previous recommendation with 32GB 3200MHz was best, I would not go more than 3200MHz because it's not 100% sure that we could run them without extra tweaking and very small performance gain.
    2666 and 3200MHz for Haswell-E, Broadwell-E and Skylake-X are 100% sure.

    One day I need to try 3200MHz with 18-19-19 2T 1.35V with mine 2666MHz 15-15-15 1T 1.2V

    Found these for you:

CL16 won't be all that much slower.  The memory I have is only available in 32 GB (4 x 8) or the choices listed on the page I posted earlier.  This memory is very solid.

One last thought.  Took a snapshot of HWinfo one dim info.  The GSkill is made by Samsung...

GSkill has become a top memory maker.

    I have only 4x4GB 2666MHz.
But reading some articles I figure out that is enough for normal needs.
No reason even for 32GB for now.

We will see for next platform, I expect 32GB 3600MHz to fit in next 2-3 years.
Optimization will be better and IMC will easier support faster kits with slower timmings.
32GB is significant investment now. I would rather to pay such money for 1TB M.2
than 32GB Memory and because of that RAM is not on my priority list.

I only afraid what if 16GB become low for next video games.
    Because I can't afford new 32GB kit.

I saw one guy sell for 150euro absolutely same kit as mine Dominator Platinum and same revision as mine, same timmings.
But I don't know is it worth to full all memory slots 8 with only 32GB of memory on 2666MHz or to wait some new chance for faster memory and newer build.

Yeah 16 GB should last for awhile still, but man ram prices are ridiculous.
