I just built my computer a week ago and I put an EVGA GTX1080 SC ACX 3.0 into it and there is this constant droning/humming noise coming from the fans, whether at lower or higher rpms, but it is more noticeable at higher rpms (2000+). this video: ht tps://you tu.be/JFp7ZuuopnY is not my pc but it is the same card and it is exactly the same noise. My card also has noticeable coil whine, but i dont think the issues are related, this is a fan issue im pretty sure. These are the rest of my specs: ht tps://pc partpicker.com/list/L4wt8Y

Sounds like one of the bearings on a fan. Only way I know to fix that is to replace the fan.

If it's the fan bearing, then take the card out and place it on a static bag or on a flat wood table with the fans facing up. apply downward pressure on the fan in the middle where the bearing would be. you will probably have a little play. This will help seat any bearings that might be out of place. If it is the bearing this should help with the noise.
(Just something i've seen other suggest on here. I have never done myself)

Theirs no protecting electronics on top of an antistatic bag. Only protection on the inside.
I'd lay it down on top of a flat piece of cardboard as its softer.
Press down on the fan in the center and release as it will spring back up. Do this 5-6 times ea fan. Install again and see if the fan barings fall back inline.

i tried that, i think i can still hear the sound. is the fan supposed to have play when i push down after i push it 5 times or so? EDIT: yeah it definitely did not fix the sound

Thank you for the information! this helped a lot. I was getting like a strange ticking noise from the back fan once the fans ramped up, but after doing what you said as well as pushing the centre of the fan a few times, the noise has vanished :D.

so i am gonna do a cross ship rma, but i do not have my original packaging. would sending back my old GPU in the box that I receive my new GPU in be ok?

Thanks JosephL. I thought when it came to faulty fans you guys just send out a replacement fan for the consumer to install themselves? When I owned an old 780 I got given that option.

Is a fan replacement option available? i’m one of the 1070 guys that had to take his card apart to put thermal pads on the pcb. It wouldn’t be that big a difference installing a fan.

Do you guys not offer a fan replacement instead of sending it back? I can remember when I had an issue with my 780 fan and I was offered a fan replacement instead of sending it back to yourselves.
Doing a standard cross ship rma and replacing the cooler yourself is an option.

From my understanding they do not offer to replace just the fan and instead it would be a whole RMA. I don’t think I have really seen them talk about replacing part of a card and not just a fully replacement.

doesn’t make sense to me since I’ve already took the whole thing apart to apply thermal pads due to the whole vrm burning up fiasco and evga were letting people do it fhemselves sending out the thermal pads but I cant replace one fan lol.

2nd card the same I'd try a different psu.
