Hey dear community,

I am currently building a new rig with following components

- i9-7920X (getting this soon, currently saving up the last bit of it :) )
- EVGA X299 Dark (already have that)
- EVGA 1080 Ti K|NGP|N Hydro Copper (already have that)
- Seasonig Prime Platinum 850W (already have that)
- Custom Loop for CPU and GPU (already have loop for GPU in place with HWLabs 280mm by 54mm thickness)

Now I am torn by the RAM, I want to go with Samsung B-Dies and 32GB DDR4 4x8GB. RAM should be easily overclockable to 3600 if it does not come at 3600 from factory basically.
I was currently always aiming for the F4-3600C16Q-32GTZKK but they are like 500€, now I found on eBay as new with 20€ voucher for 430€ the above mentioned RAM from Kingston (HX436C17PB3K4/32)

Which one should I go with or any other recommendation?

Cheers and best regards,
Yedi

I've been an Avid Kingston HyperX user for years..never had an issue with them, but there are other manufacturers that are cheaper that are more than likely fine too..

I wouldn't be stuck on HyperX if you find someone else ...those that *I* like (others may not)

G Skill makes excellent memory!  I have used their products for the past six years and they keep getting better.  For X299, I strongly recommend a 4 x 4 GB kit so you can enjoy the full benefit if quad channel memory...it will make a difference.  I use this model (mine is 3200 15-15-15), but the Ripjaws V is solid

Why 4x4GB? Wouldn't be 4x8GB be the same benefit?

G Skill...excellent choice....Depending upon what you're doing, 32GB may be overkill..what are you using the system for?

No idea what Star Citizen is...sorry...usually gaming+streaming I'd say 16GB is fine...but if it eats memory...maybe 32GB is better? Bobmitch and others can likely better answer you there..

there's always the path of "upgrade later" if you have 8 RAM slots and only populate 4...see if 16GB works..if not, buy 16GB more and utilize the other RAM slots

Yeah :D Everyone I know so far recommended me G.Skill with Samsung B-Dies as the best for overclocking, but geeesh 500€ for 32GB RAM is rip-off ... but well RAM sadly increased heavily in the past 2 years :/ PS: I do not want any bling bling RGB stuff, since the Dark is nicely black, and the waterblock I will get for CPU is also nicely black brushed metal cover :) (watercool) So best would be black RAM, black/white is maximum I might go with

Alright, I have made up my mind and saw on a very reliable shop in Germany

    - bought 2x F4-3200C14D-16GTZR (G.Skill DIMM 16 GB DDR4-3200 Trident Z RGB) - I know I said no RGB, but instead of 250€ they asked 230€ for it, and it is the one with Samsung B-Dies and easily overclockable... so 3600MHz @CL16 should be doable :)
    - bought also Samsung 960 Evo 500GB instead of 970 Evo 500GB, because performance benefit is minimal while daily tasks, but price difference is 60€, so in total I saved a 100€ compared to my original plan :)

    Nothing wrong with Kingston.
I never had a problem with them but now all 4 of my computers run Crucial for the last 6 years.
