Seems drastic to cut all but two cars.
FORD is just looking to cut costs and concentrate on those models that have the best profit margin

It is the sedans they are cutting, and it is sometime in the future.
They are still going to make the Bronco, explorer, escape.....SUV - crossover.
Not sure what the Lincoln line will look like, maybe Lincoln will get the axe too.
The Fusion sells millions of units, fleet/police. Why give up the bread and butter.
Also just sticking to trucks, SUV and crossover, thats fine until the next gas crisis and everyone wants a small car again.
Life is too short to carry a cheap pocket knife

basically they are saying, we (FORD) can't make a decent car that people will buy so we are giving up/ giving in to the quality of makes from GM, Toyota and Honda......    
I see it more as a "Our Mustang and Focus is keeping us alive, So we don't really need to make any other cars".

While I understand wanting to make cars that sell I also wonder if they will still sell as well when gas increases over 25% from what it was last year. I assume they are basing it on old data which could hurt them like it did before. The Bronco was a major seller but discontinued when gas hit about $5 a gallon.

I see little issue with them quit making sedans. People are all about pickups and SUVs right now.

The city here has pretty much switched over to all Chevy (Caprice, Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban) for their police vehicles with a Charger here and there. SUVs are still Ford.
I owned one of the newer Focuses (14) and it was a real POS. The DCT they use in there is really bad - constant issues and the dealer/Ford would do nothing to fix it.

I have bad luck with Fords they don't like me my work truck v10 bucket truck gives troubles all the time except motor it's strong and gas hog glad I don't pay for the gas 5 miles to gallon!!!

Ford trucks with the triton engines are garbage and they refuse to fix them. The block is aluminum and they leak oil into the spark plugs which makes them explode from the engine like missles, if it doesn't stall. They've known this gor Yeats and keep making the same crap engines. Disgraceful.

I suppose it really doesnt matter since they'll comtinue to sell and upgrade their mid-size line up outside of the US. Need be, they'll just reintroduce them.

Anyone who says the older Modular SOHC & DOHC Ford 4.6L & 5.4L small block engine was bad.......clearly either never owned a vehicle with that engine, or got a lemon. They are near bullet proof engines, that require very little maintenance & are very easy to work on.
