G'day all,
I recently upgraded core i7 7700k on my EVGA z170. I updated my bios to 2.05 and began some overclocking test. I was aiming for 4.7Ghz with a 1.35VCore, but I noticed that I didn't even break 4.37 Ghz on my test. I tried literally everything to break past it. cores are all synced, and I'm confident that I added enough voltage to fuel this demand. However, my core literally stuck at 4.37 Ghz. Here's the weird part. On idle, my CPU says it's at 4.69Ghz, on idle... But on Prime95 it'll drop to 4.37Ghz. No idea why.
I tried looking online for solutions, and noticed that people did encounter the same problem with their z170. However, I tried their solutions, but to no avail. (eg. change power consumption, sync cores, turbo mode on/off etc).
Can anyone help me out here?

Set your avx ratio offset to 0.

Thank you very much @Sajin! Your solution worked and i'm running 4.66 (4.70) consistent now. What is an AVX Ratio though?

No problem. By default the avx ratio is set to a number higher than 0. The reason it's set like that is because applications that use avx instructions cause the cpu to draw more power, and are really stressful on the cpu.

AVX is an instruction set and puts more load on the CPU. You used a version of Prime95 which utilizes AVX. For future use Prime95 26.6

If avx is set at 3 in bios then your clocks will drop 300mhz when avx is used in prime, or in any other program, since as stated avx is very stressful.
