1 winner It's that time again! SETI Germany is hosting the 9th Annual BOINC Pentathlon 2018! This is a team event where we compete in 5 disciplines (BOINC projects). Projects have different start and end dates, along with varying lengths of time to be run. Our team is registered, so you do not have to register individually for this event. Check back here as the Pentathlon draws near to find out which projects will be run and at what times. Not all of the projects will be announced at once! They are announced gradually, before and during the event. I am not so sure as to what project to vote for.
Should be projects that have a good supply of tasks, sucks when they run out of tasks in a challenge.

lol, eth minging and primegrid use different engines on the card.. might as well run both and earn some Etherum  and **** is a copy engine? (Really only effects the mining speeds by about 20%.)

We are fast approaching the finish line! One day left for PrimeGrid and two days for Asteroids and NumberFields. Sprints and other events are over, so let's finish this one strong...there is no excuse!

Thanks to everyone who participated! Especially juggling this and the FB sprint. We managed a respectable tie for 15th...down to the wire with Chinese Dream. Not quite sure how they figure the tie breaker to give us 16th on the stats... Great job team!

Yes, lots of fun(?) trying to keep everything straight and juggle the bunkers. Especially impressive was how the team was able to switch from taking the #1 spot on the FB sprint, move over to PrimeGrid for the Pentathlon and still walk away with 33 points there. Great job everyone

The team which is able to collect the highest number of points in all 5 disciplines will win the BOINC Pentathlon. This also means that the champion may get a maximum number of 500 points.
In case of a tie in the overall score, the tied teams are ranked by their head-to-head comparison. Hence the team which is placed better than the other teams in more disciplines is ranked higher.
Of course, also the champions of the single disciplines are being honored. Therefore teams have the possibility to reach for the pedestal in a single discipline if they don't see a chance for themselves to succeed in the overall placings. In the end, they are being honored as well.
Since they had scored a 39 and EVGA did not in any event, that is most likely the tie breaker and thus bumping you to 16th place.

Thanks cuarc001. I took your bolded text as Chinese Dream had a higher score than us in 3 out of the 5 events (NumberFields, Rosetta, and Asteroids), therefore they're ranked higher overall. It's funny how the same sentence can be interpreted in different ways by different people. BTW, nice placement by [H] this year in the pentathlon.

Yeah.. it can be and it may be the way you mention it as well.
We tried our best, documented our shortcomings for future endeavors, and are already working on plans for next year. I'm just hoping we keep the momentum we've had this past year going.

I thought that since they had a 0 and we scored 30 something in one event, that we scored higher overall. (no events with zero participation)
In the end, it does not matter, but I was unclear on the rules.
