Read twice or more, or you might not understand. I have a 1440p/144hz/gsync system that runs 3 way 980TI sli. One 980ti broke. RMA replacement on the way - 1070TI. This breaks my 3 way sli. The form I submitted I had checked "sli system"  No message included, just the ups notification. Nvidia 10 series does not officially support 3 way sli, so I can't run 1070ti 3 way sli. If evga replaced one other of my 980ti for 1070ti... two 1070TI in sli are not equal to 980ti 3 way. What now?

Give EVGA a call. It's too bad that it happens, but it should all get straightened out.
EVGA's RMA department habitually ignores that SLI checkbox. This is an all-too-common complaint.

EVGA's RMA department habitually ignores that SLI checkbox. This is an all-too-common complaint.
+1.... Yeah there RMA dept is horrible anymore. They must not have enough trained staff and some other issues going on. It has turned into a document every inch of whatever your sending and stay on top of it situation.

Heard back from support. Offered refurbished replacements 1070tis for my 100% perfect retail box 980tis and blamed gpu shortage.
Nothing done to rectify my downgrade of broken up 3 way sli.

Thanks for the reply. Unsure if I can because of the bridge / spacing required. I use 1 4 7 sli spacing with an asus 3 way flex bridge and aggressive fan profile to keep temps in check. Also have 2x side panel exhaust running cards at stock. Maybe it's an option if I can get it to work with my flex bridge but I'm worried about giving evga any possible reason to avoid honoring their warranty in the future.

Z97 classified also does not natively support 3 way sli, and uses a plx, so you lose a lot of possible performance. Dropping to 2 way sli will benefit you exponentially. I would highly suggest researching 2 way native support versus 3 way through PLX.

Best thing to do is contact EVGA and let them know you use SLI and hope the RMA allows that to still be possible. You have to keep in mind SLI is not always important to every user.

Z97 only has 16 pci lanes and doesn’t officially support 3way sli either, and you sent the motherboard in for RMA, so there is a whole ton of questions to be asked, especially since t would seem you sent a gpu, motherboard, and power supply back all at once. You now have many open RMA threads and no proof of what was actually broken, just that you possibly RMA’d a fully system. Take the 3 1070ti’s and enable 3 way sli since neither the gpu nor the board support it. It will function the same and you will get better performance.

I tested the card in question in a different system, which also crashed quickly. Changed videocard to a different 980ti and no crash. the_Scarlet_one

z97 classified has plx and supports up to 4 way sli

Yes. You said “1070ti does officially support 3 way sli” but neither does z97, so what’s the problem? Plx or not, it isn’t native and z97 doesn’t support it. You also lose performance over the plx versus a system with native support.

Missed this. Items failed at different intervals and were isolated by testing individually in completely different system. Preferred not to ship during crappy winter and just ended up waiting for spring.

Got it and thank you for addressing that part. I would suggest looking at wiring in the home. I just ran 4 dedicated ports to my computer room because there was 3 rooms on one circuit and breakers would trip. My pc runs wonderful now. It is relatively cheap to run 1 or two lines to make sure you computer is getting clean power. If you are having this many faults, I would take a look at other parts and pieces in the chain just to verify the issue is isolated.

I understand running new ports in your situation where the breakers are being tripped, but if you're not getting clean power and that's it, wouldn't it be less hassle just to have all your PC equipment hooked up to a high-quality UPS as a "set it and forget it" solution?

Its actually cheaper to run a new line off your mains thats ONLY for your rig. Really, if you run a wide enough gauge and take into account length of run also, that should help mitigate a lot of the dirty power issue. A good quality psu can help with some of that too. It, of course, is not going to clean it all up but running on a busy line really adds to the dirty power issue and can make all kind of weird things happen.
