Hello and good day to all. I just want to ask if changing ones residency affects the warranty of the product. Way back 2010, I purchased a GTX 470 when I was working in Saudi Arabia. The part number contains an -AR suffix which denotes a 10-year warranty. A few months ago, my contract with the company expired so I went back to my home country (Philippines). Then about a week ago my 470's fan died. I contacted support but was informed that the product is out of warranty. Any advise is highly appreciated. TIA!

First, did you fully register the product with receipt uploaded when you purchased the item. Also, have you read through all of the warranty restrictions for your region? I have not looked but that may give you some insight into the warranty.

Hi! Yes, product was fully registered and invoice uploaded same day it was purchased. Read through the warranty restrictions for EMEA As far as I remember, on my products page it used to show "this product carries a 10-year limited warranty etc." Now, after changing my address it shows "out of warranty" After the response from support about not having warranty for my card, I've been thinking that this is because of updating my address. And to think of it, I bought the product due to it's advertised 10-year warranty claim. Thank you the_Scarlet_one for the response

Hello, Changing your location does affect the terms of the warranty you are covered under. If you move from a region that offered a Limited Lifetime warranty to a region that does not offer a Limited Lifetime warranty then the warranty terms would fall into whatever fit closest to your new location. The region you located to does not offer any extended warranty for AR products https://asia.evga.com/support/warranty/

Good to know for sure on this. Seems like a question that probably doesn’t happen to often but good to know anyway.

Hi, Thank you for your response. Sad for me to know the hidden "workarounds" just to void the warranty. Just a piece of advice - next time, please do state it clearly on the terms so everyone would know.

The warranty terms ARE clearly stated for each region.

Yeah, I guess next time the buyer should know WHERE to buy his product and WHERE to use it and be still at the same location before the product dies. At this age of vast and easy online purchases between countries, migrating workers buying different products here and there - product warranty should be kept as per the terms in the place of purchase and not where the owner is. Should include in the terms: Warranty terms validity is based as per owner location and not on the place of purchase.

Hello, Just an update: Received an email from support about a couple of weeks ago. Warranty is being accepted. Late post on this one as there was a family emergency. Thank you EVGA
