I loved the games, and the mods. But honestly, all I want is a PC exclusive sequel to the Half Life series. I would love to see Half Life 3, built from the ground up to be exclusive for PC and designed to push even the most powerful hardware of tomorrow to its limits.

I would love to see Half Life 3 but really feel Valve probably lacks the talent anymore to pull it off and made a groundbreaking game. The original really moved level design forward and the sequel moved graphics ahead. Not sure what could be expanded at this point.

To me, it is not as much as expanding the series as it is continuing the story. Sure, top notch visuals, level design, and fluid controls always are a plus, but I would love to get another chapter to go through, a whole new story to experience.

Absolutely not. Valve has turned all their games into ridiculous gambling platforms and frankly doesn't make games any longer. Half Life 2 wasn't even that good of a story either. The guy that wrote them doesn't work at Valve any longer either. The episodic scam fell apart quickly and Valve went for force into gambling and microtransactions. You really want to see a new Half Life designed around loot boxes and hats?

The episodes where not that great but really I think the story of half Life 2 overall was pretty good for the time. Might be need a little work but as long as they focused on a good single player story I would look forward to it.

I like the Half-Life 2 story line ... really enjoyed playing it, and I felt like there's more storyline to tell. I've been waiting for the sequal to Episode 2 ... would be great if a gaming studio could pick up the storyline and get it going again. Call it HL2 Episode 3 to finish out that story.

I always thought HL2's story was garbage compared to HL1 and its expansions. So really, i would rather see more HL1 era stories in a new engine. Something about Black Mesa was always cooler to me than generic HL2 storyline. But i think both ships sailed long ago.

When I say Half Life 3 I mean a true successor to Half Life 2. I don't mean any of the micro transactions that plague many of today's top titles, nor the episode crap they tried to pull, though I did find those enjoyable if for a little bit. But I mean I want it done and done right. It is something that should not be done if it can't be done right, and that is why it has not happened yet. But I still wish it would.

Good luck! They will never release that franchise to any other studio in any way, shape or form EVER. It pretty much defined them and put them on the map and to release/sell that to someone else to either sully their image or upstage there work will not happen. It probably would have by now if it was even possible.

This game I know will never happen, however I do find myself wishing it would. Though if it were to happen it needs to be done right. I could never see Valve ever parting ways with this franchise, however if it were to happen I could see it being developed by another studio outside Valve and they could just publish it. But again, this post for me is just wishful thinking.

Really I could see a Half Life 3 but I also have to wonder how many people played Half Life and Half Life 2 that game today. It’s almost like going Street Fighter 2 was great and looking forward to more Street Fighter games and then realizing something is lacking now that wasn’t 25 years ago.

Problem is Valve makes so much money off of Steam that they don't have to be logical in their decision making process and could just force it to be SteamVR exclusive because they can.

I have all of valves games now, so why not HL3 and maybe a new left 4 dead
might be time to modernize the source engine to allow some new shaders as options for developers to use

ARMYguy is pretty much on the same page as me. I thought HL2 was OK but it never had the same feel as 1 and all it's expansions. I've played HL1 for 80 plus hours. I played HL2 once and don't care to go back. Black Mesa is my HL drug now. I'm just wading through it at a snail's pace (stopping to smell the roses) while waiting on them to finish it. I could now care less about Half-Life 3. They've waited way too long.
