So I got email notification from Bitmain that the E3 was available an hour ago and now sold out. Pre-order for July shipping at 800 USD, which isn't a bad price, but the specs have me confused, 180 Mh/s for 800W.

Isn't a Titan-V more efficient if it can do 70Mh/s at 213W? Granted, 3000 bucks, but GeForce variants aren't far off.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

They have to price them this cheap. Ethereum is thinking of doing a hardfork and making this ASIC miner worthless. Plus it's speculated Bitmain has been mining on these units already and once they hit a certain difficulty level, they sell them off. Could you imagine buying one of these and by the time it gets shipped to you it's worthless?

That alone is cause for concern, it sounds like market manipulation or just straight up illegal. But in a field so volatile with minimal oversight despite high profile nature of the business, in the end, we can only speak with their wallets.

its none of those things. they make a product. they test a product and then sell a product.
