I bought this GPU brand new, installed it in a new rig and works perfectly fine, except the GTX 1080 and SC led lights never turned on.
The model is 08G-P4-5186-KR.
Does this model don't have the LEDs ?
Why would EVGA make a model with no LEDs ? Could it be exchange, customized or something ? I spent $ 800 bucks on this and I was hoping it would look good in my rig as well.
The GPU didn't have a backplate either.
Any suggestions ? Support, anyone ?
Thanks.

The SC moniker usually denotes a lower end version of a particular line of cards. Sadly, they will not likely help you with any sort of exchange. I myself didn't do my homework when I went through the step up process. I traded in 2 1070 Ti with the full ICX tech, only to receive an SC 1080 Ti that has the ICX cooler only. After several emails about this, the short answer was consider yourself lucky that we offer a step up option.

But if you are within 90 days of the purchase of your card and have registered it, you can apply for a step up too. Keep in mind that your upgrade will not have RGB leds. EVGA does not offer any cards other than reference for step up.

Step up ? How does that work? I don't want RGB, just the white LEDs like the other SC model

Just looked at the step up program, but I bought my GPU in eBay, brand new, is it acceptable ?

It depends on whether or not the vendor is on EVGA's approved list. If you do step up, the next highest card for you would be the 1080 Ti Black SC Gaming. It has only the white LEDs, with the better ICX cooler.

Since you bought it brand new maybe EVGA will allow you to do a step-up. I hope they will since you are not happy with your card. If not, try and return your card to the seller. Good luck.

08G-P4-5186-KR is not currently listed in EVGA US site. I wonder where the OP got it. But the 1080ti SC black edition does have LED and a backplate if that's what you care about. Just remember to register your card within 14 days of purchase or purchase an extended warranty within 90 days to be eligible for step-up program.

It looks like it was an early model that EVGA no longer sells. I read some reviews on Newegg and they mention the fact that it has no back plate or lighted logo. Some people are OK with that but obviously TOZWS6 isn't and I can't blame him considering what he paid for it.

    Welcome to the Forums,

It can be confussing as there are many versions of Graphics cards; best to always read the specifications.

Simple web search and I found this  EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC GAMING, 08G-P4-5186-KR

Clearly stated in the specifications ---> LED Logo: No

The SC moniker usually denotes a lower end version of a particular line of cards.

SC stands for SuperClocked -- Does Not denote a lower end version --> it is a Factory Over Clocked card with improved clocks guaranteed

Your probably confusing it with the "DT" version of any card - as the DT version is lower than the same card that is not a "DT" version

    So,

EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW GAMING, 08G-P4-6286-KR
    • 1721MHz Base Clock
    • 1860MHz Boost Clock

is better than, the "DT" version --->

EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW DT GAMING, 08G-P4-6284-KR
    • 1607MHz Base Clock
    • 1733MHz Boost Clock

If anyone knows of any mods to make it light up let me know.
At least just the front lettering.
