Time is for the most part all we need when a server goes down.
Doing the above provide that time but also allows you refresh your Rig and Clear any Lost Memory do to Memory Leaks as so one.

It's getting frustrating that Stanford still sees this project as nothing more than volunteer.  They seriously need to start taking it at face value for what it is.  We are giving them hundreds, nah thousands of hours of cpu/gpu time for free, and they act as if it's nothing at all.  They have the resources to pay someone to monitor the servers 24-7, they should be doing it.  They just don't think it's worth the money or time because we always come back, just like people in abusive relationships.

Is it seriously spring break right now?  Is that why no one rebooted the servers this morning?

It's an ongoing joke that every holiday the servers go on vacation as well.  It's one of the reasons a lot of folders get angry at Stanford.  They treat the donors as a second thought when they have more than enough money to hire someone to monitor the servers 24-7.

I wonder if Stanford ever considered a preventative reboot say 3 days before school breaks - that would give a couple days to address any issues ?

If this information is so important to them, maybe they should either hire someone, or partner with MS or Google who would be able to handle the data properly.  I mean some of the servers they are using are 15-20 years old, they admitted so in the forums.  They use the machines until they die, and run out of spare parts and refuse to replace them until it's too late.  They have 57 "servers", and only 12 of them are currently working.  When are they going to start taking this project seriously?  I mean we could find the cure to cancer or Parkinsons or that, but Stanford might lose it because of their inability to keep the servers up.

Perhaps we can all donate spare parts to upgrade the servers. I may actually have a TRS80 in the attic but they might not know what to do with such modern technology.

For a research entity with a fancy-looking website (that appears as not having been updated for a couple years) with a big banner on the main page soliciting more folders, I personally think it would be a bit embarrassing running their whole operation in such an amateurish fashion -- servers going down every holiday weekend, more servers "not accepting" jobs than are running, etc. Stanford's folding program needs a major "refresh" starting with their folding software (when was it last updated?) and do some major hardware upgrades on their server setup. Hate to crack a joke here, but their website's main page reminds me of those fancy fake facades in the spaghetti westerns enticing customers to what appears to be an established saloon, only to fall down in the street and expose a shanty shack.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
