Always thought Nvidia gouged a little bit anyway, but I can't imagine smacking loyal customers in the face with prices like that.  Have to wait and see what they do.

The price will be higher than last year. Hopefully GDDR6 will be used this year but that will also bump up the cost. Right now though memory demand is so high that prices have inflated. I hope that the next gen video card will be released later so I can save enough cash for it.

I highly doubt the MSRP will be anything remotely close to scalper pricing which many I feel are confusing them with.  Maybe a $100 price jump to the existing MSRP but I don't think I'd see more then that.  And ffs folks, stop buying scalp pricing.  Let them choke themselves out.

If they come out at this price it will just show you how out of touch Nvidia is, or maybe just how much AMD needs to compete because Nvidia knows people will pay this price.  It will suck either way.  Let's hope it's false.

if retailers are going to charge 1,500 bucks because of the high mining demand why not set prices high and make some of that money?

That price is crazy high. My Kingpin needs to last me a long time. the performance of this card will last a long time anyhow. Which suits me just fine.

But did you see the MSRP of the new Titin? Sorce: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/titan/titan-v/
If this is any indication of the price jump on the cards, then the 2080 would be set at around $1500.  Nvidia will lose me as a customer forever if they do this and sadly Evga also (because of Nvidia's decision).

I also agree with letting the scelpers die on their own sword. But I think the mining people are buying anything they can and there is no way to stop that.  Let's hope that AMD gets better and does not try to tap into the mining scene.

This is all a bad thing for us gamers.

Yes most of us have seen the titans MSRP, but that is what I would expect from a card that is meant for small workstations and compute.

The titan v isn't for gamers. The titan v isn't even designed for gaming. If you're buying a titan v to play games you're doing it wrong.

Its not to hard to believe to me if AMD is selling a 1,000 dollar cpu chip.

Shortage Now Also Pushes Wafer Prices Upwards

Yet another shortage is driving up prices. Silicon wafers will continue to experience tight supply in 2018, driven by robust demand from IC foundries. Taiwan-based GlobalWafers and Formosa Sumco Technology (FST) are both among the beneficiaries including Shin Etsu, Sumco, Siltronic and SK Siltron.China-based foundry startups' aggressive expansions, as well as the arrival of new production capacities at Intel, TSMC and other major foundries, led to the tight supply of silicon wafers mainly 12- and 8-inch ones, the sources indicated, reports DigiTimes:Silicon wafer quotes already rose 15-20% in 2017 as a result of tight supply, said the sources, adding that prices are likely to increase further by at least 20% in 2018 to reflect the ongoing tight supply. The price rally will continue to boost silicon wafer providers' revenues and profitability

In addition, chipmakers are willing to accept high prices in order to secure enough supplies from their upstream wafer providers, the sources noted. Many of them have struck long-term deals with their wafer suppliers.

Supply and demand unfortunately. Until companies start trying to balance profits with customer loyalty there will always be an imbalance.

Breath..Think..React.... Do that in reverse equals regret..

With memory pricing up so much, I could see a launch price in the $700-$800 range - but no bloody WAY can they justify $1500 MSRP.

Gouge pricing that high if the supply of RAM and chips is too short? Perhaps - but that's not NVIDIA pricing.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.
