Hi,

I have seen the other thread, wich is just ppl complaining about their cards. I'd like a solution for this.
I can't figure out what the cause is so can anyone help me out?
I've added screenshots of my event viewer.
It can happen 5 times a day or once a week. There is no pattern in this. Not when I play a specific game or anything.
For more questions please reply below.

My specs:
Asus maximus VII Hero Z97 motherboard
Kingston Hyper X Beast 16Gb 1866 memory
EVGA GTX 980 FTW ACX 2.0
Intel 4790K 4,4Ghz Quad core i7
512GB Samsung 960 pro in an ASUS Hyper M.2 expansion card
OCZ Revodrive3 x2 240Gb PCI-e SSD
512GB Samsung 850 Pro SSD
1TB Samsung HDD storage
500GB Samsung HDD storage
Corsair RM750 gold power supply
Enermax liquitech CPU watercooling

Thanks!

Try driver 388.00, and see if it helps.

Also, only install nvidia drivers and physx driver (unless you use sound through your cable). Even if you use sound through the cable, this will help rule out sound through the hdmi cable or DP port as the cause.
You can do a clean install also, when installing choose custom, and you can tell it what to install or not install, and a checkbox for 'Clean Install'.

Yes. I've had it for like a few years.
What I read is that the overclocking is unstable so i put it on -250Mhz now let's see if this resolves the problem

Stock clocks for the GPU may be better, unless you have already tried that. I did notice that you have an overclock on your CPU. Are you sure your CPU overclock is 100% stable? I know it sounds weird to point to the CPU when you are only experiencing issues with the display driver, but it can't hurt to rule it out. Good luck with the troubleshooting.

That nvidiacontainer file is used to access the net for telemetry and monitor apps like GeForce exp, driver updates etc.... but apparently there is malware that disguises itself as this same file under the system32 folder so becareful of that. If the legit file can't complete its update check it will keep going continuously sucking up CPU cycles giving you lag or crashing you out eventually. Don't install any of Nvidias files except driver and physx and it should solve your issue. The reason why it's so random is probably because at times it connects and other times it can't for whatever reason and gets stuck in a loop till it does eventually, which can be the behavior of a trojan too. Have you done any malware scans lately?

Try older drivers, 381.89 are stable for me. Run Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode before installing older ones, make sure the option to delete the C:/nVidia folder is enabled.

I'd also try to use custom install and just install the cards driver only .  then test that  if its is a issue with the rest of the gimmickware  like that geeforce experience  or maybe the NVidia HD audio what ever gets installs in the express install   . just uncheck them all but the  driver  then install it .

this driver works great on my 900 cards    355.82    its a oldie but a goodie    still on it today
 .

lot of threads on these kinda issues with these latest drivers   that's geared to latest cards  , older card tend to be just supported  and like they now say   'NVidia tends to break as much as they fix in each new driver release ..  lol....   sure looks to hold true to me

Looks like you have a completely different issue. Please start your own thread if you need assistance.

To me it looks like a corruption issue with the nvidia driver/windows ntdll.dll file. I'd suggest you do #2 listed here. I'd also suggest that you run sfc /scannow as well to make sure all your .dll files are in good shape.

Did the underclock help at all?

It seems that the underclock by -250Mhz helped cause I have not had the problem since.
I'll keep you guys updated if it happends again.

My CPU has a standard clock of 4.0 Ghz and a boost clock of 4.4Ghz wich is not overclocked

HMMMM...   maybe a power issue  ?   like for what ever reason  not able to hold the clocking stable   or a failing CAP or voltage regulation of something in or  for the card  .     mind you that is if your having to under-clock from out of the box stock card  and not from a overclock you put on it ..

if your card has been overclocked and run on that long term  maybe degradation  [I think that's what its called ]   for me  it either works today or it don't  and back to newegg

Doubt it’s the driver version. Try removing all OCs and reinstall windows.
