Seems that Microsoft is going to get their way, one way or the other...unless one is willing to stay right where they are without Windows 10. Upgrade path will be very limited.

It's about at the point that Windows 10 makes sense for companies but I see a lot of places using Windows 7.

New versions of Office is always an issue ----> every time MS comes out with a new version of Office the office staff have a productivity drop of about 50%
Cause MS always moves all the command that you know how to use.
Keep the current version you have or budget for training --- you will need it

Fine by me. I quit using MS office long ago due to there high prices etc. For my uses of these types of programs included in the suite, I've been using Libre Office for a few years now. Can't hardly tell the difference between them & MS. https://www.libreoffice.org/

See, I would say it kills it - but Office is just something people kinda need aside from Docs - I think Microsoft will just win this one...
Then again, we can't tell yet - hopefully they won't

I agree. Unfortunafely, Libre Office/Open Office doesn't cut it in a Microsoft-centric corporate world due to Libre Office/Open Office's lack of support for SharePoint collaborative features. After years of scoffing at Microsoft Office's excessive price, I ended up finally buying Microsoft Office for my personal laptop in order to perform some tasks required for my job. It is convenient to finish up tasks from my room on my own time rather than feeling like I have to stay late in front of a work computer.

Yeah, it certainly does depend on each persons needs. My only use for anything like this is for home/personal use...

Still using MS Office 2007 and have no plans to 'upgrade' - I don't like the subscription model, and buying outright (if you still can) has become too expensive, especially when you have more than one 'device'. I use 2016 / Office 365 at work, but I prefer 2007. I'm talking primarily Word and Excel btw, I rarely use PowerPoint or OneNote etc..
Also noticed on some of their 'upgrades' in the past few iterations all they really did was shuffle the menus around and maybe add a couple of new features few people use.. just means everyone has to re-learn where everything is in the menu - always a huge pita for the first month or so.

I had a hard enough time going from my old win 98 pc with microsoft 2000 - to 2003 suite in school - to now the 2007 suite on my home PCs and Ive finally gotten pretty efficient with 2007. I haven't felt a need for my use case to upgrade, and the constant menu shuffling with each newer iteration is just frustrating. Ill be using 2007 as long as it continues to install without compatibility issues indefinitely.
