Ok ever since I upgraded to Win10 I have had an issue with PrecisionX and XOC.
Any version of Precision will just randomly turn itself off. Doesn't matter if I'm gaming or just idle at desktop.
This is causing my 980 fan to sit at idle speed. I have searched and find nothing to fix this and most of the time I have to restart my PC since just turning Precision back on doesnt allow it come back on. I had the same problem with Afterburner.
Also I had this problem on my old PC then a few months ago I built a new PC and well still same problem.

Any ideas to stop this?

Hmm. Odd. Any overclocks on your computer? If yes, set everything back to default clocks to see if it helps fix the problem or not.

    Oh sorry about that.
No I dont overclock. Everything is stock
Also I forgot to add in my current specs its a ref 980.

This did this on my old PC also. only 2 things that have stayed the same between the 2 is Win10 and the current 980. Did a fresh install on the newest build and still does it. Also contacted Microsoft support and they couldnt correct it either. Seems like the first time Precision shuts itself off is if I have had my PC running for 2-3 days.

    EDIT:
Never had this issue until I upgraded to Win10

That could be a normal Task Scheduler limitation if Precision is set to start with Windows.

Press the Windows + R keys to open Run..Type in taskschd.msc to open Task Scheduler..Then click on (not expand) Task Scheduler Library to see the list of tasks..Then double-click on EVGAPrecisionX to open it's Properties..Then open the Settings tab..Then uncheck Stop the task if it runs longer than: 3 days (which is the default)..Then click OK and exit Task Scheduler..Roll from there.

    Just a thought.

Ok tried it and I get this popup from Task Scheduler:

An error has occurred for task EVGAPrecisionX. Error message:One or more of the specified arguments are not valid.

Does not let me exit from scheduler unless I have that box checked.

Also in the settings tab it doesnt matter if I make any changes or not, if I select the "OK" button it will give that error message.

Well, I would uninstall Precision..Then restart your PC..Then delete the Precision leftover files and folder in the Windows Program files (x86) folder..Then go back into Task Scheduler and right-click EVGAPrecisionX and delete the task..Then install Precision again..Then open the Settings and enable 'Start With OS'..Then close and open Precision again..Then go back into Task Scheduler and see if you can uncheck that setting.

Or you could just try deleteting EVGAPrecisionX from Task Scheduler..Enable 'Start With OS' in Precision..Then close Precision again so it gets added back to the Task Scheduler Library again and try it.

    Thanks I'll try that.
I have in the past tried uninstalling, deleting folders and reinstalling before but didnt do the task scheduler part.
Will try in a bit and update results.

I'd download it again just to be sure

Run a Full Malware anti-virus scan on your PC next

You should use DDU - Safe Mode with reboot --> and do a fresh install of your Nvidia driver - just to cover that base - Custom install ONLY the GPU driver & PhysX.
Make sure your Offline and stop ALL background programs - even security software --> Before installing Either Nvidia drivers or XOC-
(that is why off line, besides Windows can "mess with installs" trying to "update" while you're installing).

Then after install of Nvidia driver - install XOC & reboot again --> Before opening Precision XOC

After you reboot log on to Windows --> then connect your internet / enable WiFi

My Win 7 Pro 64b & Win 10 Pro 64b will allow around 7 - 10 days of XOC running 24x7 before it will crash --> "could be" a memory leak issue - don't know --> I've learned to shut XOC down and restart once a week.  These machines run up to 60 days between reboot.

I ran a full suite of Anti Malware scans on my PC about a month ago and I always do them in safe mode no internet.
I do the custom install of the driver with GPU and PhysX only while antivirus is disabled.

But I will try your method and see how that works out.

    UPDATE.

I do not know yet if my issue is fixed but I think it is.

As for the error I was getting in task scheduler, none of the suggestions here worked for me to uncheck the disable after so many days box.
The reason being is in task scheduler on the main "General" tab, the security options were set as my Windows logon name, I had to change the security setting to "System". After that I was able to make changes for Precision task scheduler.

Thanks for help and I hope this fixed the issue.
