Hi,

I just bought the EVGA Z370 Classified K motherboard and I have the Intel Core i7-8700k CPU.

Do you need to use the 4pin CPU connector in addition to the 8pin CPU connector on the motherboard in order to have the i7-8700k operate in Turbo mode? Or does that just happen automatically when it's needed?

oh, I thought Turbo Mode was like overclocking. Therefor requiring the extra 4pin cpu connector.

So, are your saying that without the extra 4pin cpu power connector, my processor (Core i7-8700k) will still be able to use its turbo mode maxing out at 4.7Ghz

Why would I ever want to use the extra 4pin cpu power connector?

First question: Yes.
Second question: Extreme overclocking.

I did not have to use the additional 4-pin CPU connector to achieve 5GHz on my 8700K.  Likely won't need that unless you do extreme overclocking with liquid nitrogen.
