Hi,
I recently bought a intel x5690 for my EVGA X58 SLI (132-BL-E758-A1) but i can not start computer with it. Little display on the board stuck on FF. I tried resetting the bios like removing battery and power, resetting from the button on the board, nothing seems to work. I don't even hear the bip sound. My bios is updated to latest version on the site. Tried removing everything from the board that has no effect. Anyone has an advice?

What revision board to you have? If you do not have the newer revision of the board, it will not work and requires a modification. Contact EVGA. As far as I know they are still doing the 'Westmere mod' for them. EVGA Corporate Headquarters- US Office

See the X58 CPU Compatiblity List where it says: Westmere processors are only supported natively on the X58 SLI3, FTW3, and Classified3 Models (not on your X58 SLI). A product modification may be needed for older models. Need to do Xenon Westmere mod.. Forum thread or on YouTube.

The computer is at my office i ll take look at it @bob16314 that board on the video looks like mine but not the same. If it's in the same place it seems easy to do the modification.

Yeah, my links above are for the X58 SLI LE board..May/my not be the same, I just did a quick search, but you can look into it/search more to be sure.

Yes... and as the blue ribbon post (????) later repeated, you need a newer revision board or the modification. Contact EVGA and see if they still do it for free. Edit...I know it's not difficult to accomplish if you have some solder skills but...it voids your warranty if you do it yourself. If you're the original owner, lifetime is, lifetime.

Hi,
I just checked out my board is rev 1.1. @HeavyHemi I'll contact Evga at least to get detailed schematics as I live in Turkey it's not practical to send the board. I don't have solder skills, but I think someone who fixes cell phones can easily do it.

Hi,
I have done it this weekend. It's working fine. Modification for v1.0 and v1.1 is the same. For future reference people who needs this modification. Just take out R538 and remove R539 and put it there. In this thread there is a image . Furthermore asked the ohm values to Evga as I did not have a multimeter. Here is the answer

R538 silk screened on the motherboard is not 0.538 ohms!! Idiots.
The R values silk screened onto the motherboard are just identifiers where each has a unique number starting at R1, R2, R3, and up to infinity for however many resistors are on the motherboard. The silk screened number has nothing to do with the resistor's resistance value. Bad EVGA support.

It's actually zero ohm. You're changing the location of a 'jumper'
