Is the CMOS battery accessible without doing anything permanent?  I ended up having to call into EVGA as the last BIOS bricked my machine.  With a 3 week RMA turnaround time, (and THE LAN party coming up for me), I'd rather not send the machine in and reset the BIOS myself so that I can attend the LAN with this beast.  If not, I'll just do the RMA.

Which model do you have?  There is small pin hole near the power buttom.....stick a small enough pin in there to reset the CMOS.

The CMOS reset switch is located above the power button, as noted.

The CMOS battery is accessible once you remove the back panel.  The back panel is held on by ten screws with Torx T6 heads.  Once the back panel is removed, you can unplug the CMOS battery and/or unplug the main battery in order to attempt to reset the CMOS.

But, honestly, resetting the CMOS isn't going to do anything to fix your bad firmware flash.  The only way to fix that is to have the CMOS chip re-flashed which you can't do without a flash programmer and possibly a bit of de-soldering.

This is the flash programmer I own:

Works good.  But the steps necessary would most likely void your warranty if you tried it yourself.

To satisfy my curiosity and to possibly help others avoid the same situation, can you please tell us why you think the firmware was bricked?  Did you do the firmware update in Windows or in the BIOS menu?  Did you reset the BIOS to defaults and reset your laptop to its normal non-overclocked state prior to the firmware flash process?  If you did it in Windows, did you make sure that no other programs were running during the firmware flash process?  Did the laptop lockup during the firmware flash process, or did you mistakenly power-cycle or restart the laptop instead of re-attempting the firmware flash process -- while you had the chance?

Oh a bad flash, yeah CMOS reset won't help....only a programmer.....the bios chip on mine looks accessible without desoldering.  Either way, best to send it in, if you are not familiar with the procedure.
And like ty_ger07 said, please explain more, as to what happened, thanks.

One modification to the initial SC17 configuration from the beginning:
1.  Complete OS wipe.  Installed Windows 10 Enterprise (with USGCB STIG for use within the Fed TIC).  Updates set to consumer settings (not the Premier Support advance patch builds).

Upgrade steps (always plugged in):
1.  Fully updated Windows 10 USGCB.
2.  Full reboot
3.  Download patch from the forum, then unzipped.
4.  Reboot into BIOS mode, set to factory default
5.  Reboot into Windows 10 USGCB.
6.  Took off network
7.  Executed the program, flash erase halted at the address in the earlier message.
8.  Starting the phone to CS for how to gracefully exit the patch
9.  BSOD, did not hit power, did not lose power, did not send a reboot/sleep command
10.  Here I am...

Edit:
Never overclocked Nvidia or Processor.  Had the current Nvidia driver at the time of upgrade.  Nothing in particular that was unusual about the build.

I have two guesses that are speculations:
1.  The BIOS is not well-programmed.
2.  There is an interaction with the USGCB UEFI alterations with the BIOS.  I doubt it, because those changes should not affect the BIOS.

What would be the overview of the procedure to restore if you happen to have access to this equipment?  I will be at an office that would definitely have this in their inventory on Monday.  I can even find someone who knows how to program ROMs and ask that person to see to repairs.

The hard part on a laptop, is getting a good connection with the bios chip, without desoldering.  I find the Pomona clips are very good for that.  You need a programmer, like skypro, 1.8V adapter, and jumper cables.  Need to identify the correct chip (winbond), make sure you are not getting the vbios which also is winbond. Not an easy procedure on the first time, there are videos online.  I would say just use the warranty for that, shouldn't take long.

I certainly would not recommend attempting it yourself, but in summary, as vistar said, you need a programmer, you need to locate the eeprom chip in your laptop, you need the necessary adapter or wiring to connect to the eeprom chip, you need to download the BIOS file from EVGA's support download center page, you need to select the proper destination chip within in the programmer's software, you need to load up the bios .BIN file -- which is in the EVGA BIOS download file -- into the programmer's software, and you need to write the .BIN file to the eeprom chip using the programmer.

ty_ger07, I wonder if the OP had the same issue as you, flashing the the incorrect BIOS from the EVGA broken link in the forum......that was a serious screw up by EVGA.  I am glad you managed to flash the correct one.....everything working correctly?
