yup. they definitely removed it from their website...doesn't give much assurances that they're supporting the adapter.  very discouraging

That would just be another 240w laptop power source. Dell, Lenovo and other brands make them.

Got a used >=8gb GPU that you'd like to sell? PM me

The SC17 1070 is 19V very hard to find.  Also the plug may vary.  Most chargers from the OEM's mentioned are 19.5V, so perhaps within tolerance, not sure how bad it would be for the machine.  Also one would need to check the polarity.
One option, not sure of the plug, is the Razer Blade Pro charger, which is 19V, perfect, 13.15A, so 250W.  If the plug and polarity match, it would be a perfect fit.
I have an alienware 330W coming to test on my 1080, which has 19.5V PSU, but the alienware one has a center pin, so I will need to check if it will fit and work when it arrives.  Polarity matches though.

Nice catch on the 19V... however, they use a specialized flat 3 pin connector, checkout the ebay listing here, middle picture: ebay.com/itm/Genuine-OEM-2016-Razer-Blade-Pro-250-Watt-AC-Power-Adapter-RC30-0166-19V-13-16A-/263127076843?rmvSB=true

I suppose, if enough customers write them, asking them to sell the PSU, they will eventually get enough in stock to make it available on their site.  Hopefully they will add the PSU for the 1080 model as well.

I called them today....from the impression I got, they are not putting up the product page because any remaining stock will be used to replace customer returns on defective adapters. I also got the impression that there maybe new laptops in the future, but no definitive answer on if they will sell our particular adapters again (rather than just replace defective units.) I wonder if they could just order a batch of 100 standard bricks with the appropriate voltage/wattage...doesn't matter about the design, just as long as it's reliable.

I wonder if EVGA is trying new ways to piss off their laptop customers.

Taking the Power Supply off the product page is beyond infuriating. That speaks volumes about their insecurity.

It goes to show that EVGA is not even trusting their recent design. Maybe they have shipped us with the same adapter which tends to fail.

There apparently are two versions of Power Adapter being sold by the EVGA i.e. E008-00-000084 & E008-00-000073. My laptop has the latter. I wonder if the first, which was sold by EVGA separately, has the 19.5V or the 19V in the specs.

To EVGA: Please have it available for purchase to your customers. Manufacture them more if you can't trust the design and think it will run out of stock.

according to a review on amazon the Dell 6800 power supply works, and they've been using it with the dell power supply for 8 months with no issue.

which imo looks a lot better than EVGA's weirdly shaped one.

I think the 980M and the 1080 natively use 19.5V, so that would work well. Dell has two models I think, one that's 240 Watts and one that' around 330 Watts, the 1080 should use the 330 and the 980M should use the 240, however, the 1070 model, at least mine with gsync, uses 19V. If your model came with the 19V DC adapter, and you want to try it, I would suggest testing it with a multimeter to verify that it's not outputting more than 20V (as from adapter to adapter, from what I read, there is a voltage deviance, some adapters rated at, say 19V, may provide 19.3V or 18.7V, it rarely provides the exact rated output DC voltage -- in the case of a 19V adapter, 19V is the nominal voltage, and the laptop should regulate, typically up to a 5% deviance.)

Also, after using the adapter for a month (moving around with it,) I agree with you on the design. It takes up more space and, imo, I don't like the tear droppish look, I prefer the standard tank like brick.

Yeah this is very frustrating experiance with EVGA i will never buy another laptop from them. First G-sync monitor issues(not sure if this is evga) No extended warranty beyond the 2 years, and now this. I bought this for a work computer I would like to setup up a power supply there so every day I don't have to get on my hands and knees to plug in the power supply.

Yeah same here, I lug this thing to work and back, I would like an extra charger at work.  My question is, what issues were you having with an external g sync monitor?

Reading this makes me hope that my power supply does not fail.

It seems a little ridiculous that there would be no way around it if the dell adaptor doesn't work well.

Is the power supply charger also covered in the 2 year warranty?

I don't know if that particular model has the correct plug end, but I know that some people have been using Dell power supplies with their SC 17 laptops for a year or more without issue.

It's good to have a spare power adapter for travel. I have one in my laptop bag and one for home use but that is probably because I sometimes travel around a bit with my computer and really it's best to have a spare I find.

I have the SC17 w/o g-synch. I bought this one (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GPOJYS8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) as a back-up after my first power supply died. I've used it a handful of times and it works normally.

so it seems like the dell/alienware 19.5V adapter works ok?
I'm actually impressed how EVGA has managed to make the adapter uglier than the standard brick. I am really tempted to get the Dell/Alienware one as the thickness looks the same, and the standard rectangular shape means it actually takes up less room on the floor.

The adapter I bought is enormous compared to stock; it is way thicker than the one the computer comes with.

The adapter I bought is enormous compared to stock; it is way thicker than the one the computer comes with.

Yeah, imagine the one I got....330W.

I've been buying the dell 240 W supplies; they work, but get very hot compared to the EVGA version.  I imagine the 330 W one will work better, but costs a bit more.
