Looking good. Thanks for the updates.

Thanks!!  I just did some testing on the XPX since it was leaking pressure very quickly with the Dr. Drop.  This was because of the bottom O-Ring did not create a seal.  When I filled it up with some water for further testing, it started to leak from the bottom.  Goes to show you the Dr. Drop is really a fantastic tool, why risk everything with coolant.  Gonna see if I can get this O-Ring replaced, if not, going to get an Aqua Computer Cuplex Kryos NEXT, which is head and shoulders above the XPX in the quality department.

Pretty disappointing, the spare O-Ring for the bottom plate is not even the same size.....

Ended up getting the NEXT, Vision, Acetal-Copper block this will certainly be interesting!

Here is the Cuplex NEXT Vision its pretty cool, this one does not have the Vario feature though I am not sure if that is out yet.

All the micro fins make contact with the CPU package.

This block has a really well made mounting bracket, best one I have seen so far, though the one on the XPX block was definitely more creative.

It should be fixed now.  Thanks for the info.

(Update)

I will be installing a GTX 750Ti SC in the system instead of the 770(use it in another system down the road) and bought a waterblock from Bykski (Y-NAR-X) and it will fit with the original EVGA back plate so this should be super cool!  This block will cover the VRAM and other small components. I bought some EK Thermal pads in 1.0mm and 2mm for the back plate and block.

(Update)
Using EK-FC750 GTX now

Thanks!  This system will be going through a revision soon once I get the last few components and have time to change the system to a different coolant (DP Ultra Clear).   You can see all the changes that will be made on Post #23 first page.

Thank you again, I will be keeping the color scheme the same with this revision .  The GPX 390 M03 block is a hybrid waterblock (Not very good, bad design and quality), basically the the only component being cooled by the coolant is the GPU Die, everything else is cooled by the very large heatsink and back plate with thick thermal pads, it works but has unfortunately a couple of design flaws.

Here is another small update

750Ti and Aquaero 5LT all tricked out.  The 750Ti is gonna get the Bykski treatment next week!

(Update)
Replaced with EK-FC750 GTX

Re: Aqua W/B 2018/01/23 15:58:56 (permalink)
Got a Bykski R9 390 Strix Waterblock and debating whether to use this for another system or just go with the 750Ti.  The quality of the is block quite impressive and can be bought on Amazon.  The screws are stainless steel, rather than steel.  The machining on the bottom is good, but has some rough parts and the screws are literally drilled and threaded straight through the block.  The acrylic, stainless steal flow plate and the bottom copper plate have been all polished to a mirror finish.  Overall this is above the GPX block in terms of quality and most likely performance.  The benefit of this block is that it makes contact with the VRM, VRAM, GPU Die, and other heat producing components that then make contact with the coolant.  You can also use the original Strix backplate, which I will install with EK 1.0mm and 1.5mm thermal pads.  This is should be interesting.  Overall the quality of this block is quite impressive for how much it goes for.  The G1/4 threads are excellent, but the screw threads in the acrylic could be better.  Another is the contact area for the actual GPU Die seams quite small.  I would say this block is literally on par with EKWB's quality, if not better in some areas
Passed the pressure test!

Ditched in the revision!

Re: Aqua W/B 2018/01/24 17:19:57 (permalink)
Here is the Bykski (Y-NAR-X) 750Ti waterblock.  Its uses the same cooling engine as the R9 390 Strix, with the jet plate insert.  I have not installed thermal pads yet, but when I do I will re-upload the photos.  Again great quality block and fits perfectly, though the VRAM chips on the right side and not in full contact with the block the thermal pads will fix that.  Also you need to install the 0.5mm plastic washers under the block and the screw it in, without the washers the block will actually bend the PCB, so they are there for a reason.  Going to install some Watercool VRM/VRAM heat sinks on the exposed area of the card for even better cooling.  Also going to try and find a single slot PCIe bracket for this card since it would work.  Got the backplate to install using the original SC cooler screws, just need to install an M3x8mm screw on the PCIe bracket with and M3 nut.  So if anyone has a GTX 750Ti and is looking to watercool it the Bykski (Y-NAR-X) block works great.

Pressure tested and its 100% sealed, Bykski has a good track record with me so far

The parts I am waiting on now are some EK CPC QDC's, Coldzero.eu mounting plate for the Aquaero 5LT.  Once I get those parts I should be good to go.  Here is the Coldzero.eu part I requested to get made, it mounts to the back of the Evolv case on the res mount and the Aquaero 5LT screws on the plate and then you mount the plate without having to drill into your case which I am not a fan of.  Really Coldzero.eu is a great website for making custom panels and mounting solutions, highly recommend.

https://www.coldzero.eu/c...uaero-5lt-plate-1.html

(Update)
Here is the EK-FC750 fin area compared, much less fins and a lot thicker.  The terminal O-Rings are also pretty small.  Funny the block is leaking pressure, even after re-seating the 3x O-Rings in it, so have to order some replacement ones.  It kind of scary because this was brand new and had EK's "Leak Tested Seal" which I have come to learn means absolutely nothing through my experience.  Dr. Drop again, an invaluable tool, always test your components before you use them.  I believe the bad O-Ring is the terminal one but we will find out.

(Update)

It was the main O-Ring and got a replacement one, all fixed now

Excellent.

Thank you, this revision is moving along steadily.   Here is a very crude Microsoft paint flow setup of the system, pretty goofy I know.  It shows a simple layout of how this will all come together.  The arrow shows where the flow starts from the DDC.   Also cant wait to remove the Corsair Commander Mini, that thing has been very unreliable for me and has no means of cooling, also only 4 amps of power delivery across all fan channels, the Aquaero 5LT is miles ahead in terms of well... everything

(Update)
System is almost done, just using a Hardware Labs 240 GTS to cool the whole system!

Re: Aqua W/B 2018/01/29 16:18:16 (permalink)
Got the 750Ti with the Bykski block is all set.  Here is a small diagram of the Backplate with thermal pads I on it.  I used EK 2mm, 1mm, and 0.5mm thermal pads.  Also installed the Watercool Aluminum heat sinks on the other side of the PCB.  This should cool very well.

(Update)

Well call me crazy but I managed to get a very rare EK-FC750 GTX water block, you know the water block that everyone laughed about, managed to get one brand new on eBay and its pretty cool.  Its smaller than the Bykski (Y-NAR-X) and shorter height wise.  Volume-wise it fits inside the Bykski block.  The EK-FC750 GTX has VRAM contacts so It should cool very well and the EVGA backplate fits perfectly.  I used 0.5mm thermal pads on the VRAM contacts and some NT-H1 thermal paste on the die.  The Bykski block had the issue of the GPU contact being either too short or around 0.5mm away so I had to use 0.5mm washers but as stated it put the block slightly above, the EK one makes perfect contact.  The block is also made out of Acetal and is not nickle plated.  I just need to get a M2.5x6mm DIN screw and nut to secure the backplate to the PCIe Bracket.  So the EK block will be used in this final revision.

HDD Waterblock, I would use him only on some supercool stuff.
Example WD Black 6TB WD6002FZWX 128MB 7200 RPM.

To bad Veloci Raptor 10.000 RPM no 5TB.
But there is a ne supercool  WD HDD, WD Gold Entherprise 10-12TB 256MB
Best HDD SATA III on market.

He is cool for HDD Waterblock.
WD Gold support new Helio Seal Technology as HGST HDDs.
There is a HGST UltraStar He10 10TB, great HDD as well.
HGST have lowest level of failure, that's WD now.
This is last kick from HDD SATA III. They will be with us up to 2025 for sure, probably same models only new batches with maybe some improvements.

Nice, those are interesting drives indeed, but 10TB is a little excessive for this system, this is just a secondary system with some low power components and simple storage, 1x SSD 500GB and 1x SSHD 1TB.  The whole reason for water cooling the HDD in this system is there is no airflow on it and its in a confined area.  The Phanteks Evolv has bad airflow so just trying to provide more cooling for the system.  Its also one of those Hybrid SSHD drives.  So getting some cooling on it will certainly help.  Having components run cool is always a plus in my book.  Also the HDD you referenced costs $400, I think it would be more wise to buy a super fast 1TB M.2 or SSD with that money then a slow HDD.

(Update)

Here is the Coldzero Aquaero Bracket, works great and no drilling, this will install in the back of the Evolv in the optional res area.  Temp Sensor is sleeved!

(Update)

Ordered the R160 res and got the Rockit Cool LGA 1150 IHS kit.  This 4670K is going to be super cool .  Also got O-Ring cord-stock from McMaster-Carr to make O-Rings for the Pacific M1 Block.

R160 is in!, time to get the EK DDC Heatsink on it with a Bitspower 60mm fan!

Coldzero Custom cover for the PCB

(Update)

New parts will be installed soon, R160 will be removed and replaced with a Barrow Distribution plate!

So the next small revision when I have to change coolant in a year is:

Barrow Fittings
Watercool EPDM Tubing

Here is the 4790K getting a second Delid run with the Copper IHS from rockitcool!  Also ditched the Aqua Computer G1/4 Flow Sensor for an Aqua Computer Mesh Filter!

In the end I had to switch back to the i5 4670K since the 4790K would not boot with 32GB RAM and only the i5 4670K would, even after testing all the sticks and loosening the monoblock.

Thank you very much!  Got a couple Coldzero.eu parts coming in to give the final touches to the case!  And ordered a Himuro HDD Cooler to help keep the SSHD temps down.

The Sythe HDD cooler will probably removed with the latest revision.

Absolutely, the best QDC's I ever used, they are well made and they are manufactured by CPC, you dont have to worry about plating issues, or size.  They are super compact and work very well with Bitspower Luxury tube clamps.  I do not recommend the use of the EZ-Nylon clamps that come with them since they are junk.  I use these in both of my systems, I highly recommend them and they are also very affordable at $24 a piece for a full QDC.
