Congratulations, polarbeardj with your 100K club on ODLK membership
What does the ’dj’ stand for in your name? Disc Jockey?
In which case you will like my current captain of top40.nl, adriverhoef from the Netherlands. He is music.
Yes.
That’s what he is.
Music.
By the way, everybody’s talking about you, polarbeardj, here

@ polarbeardj: Thank you for letting me know.
My current captain is still hoping for a visit from you, so today I had to say to him:
You asked about the polarbeardj, captain. I'm afraid we shall never see him. As I remorsefully explained in some earlier post, I overinterpreted and was overly optimistic and in general understand men poorly.
Earlier I had announced I expected a visit from you, polarbeardj, because I had interpreted something you said to that effect.
Later I told him, you were chasing pretty and cute badges elsewhere, but he cannot get you out of his mind, it seems.

@Punchy: Yes, we do have surprisingly many and odd coincidences.
I worried a little about this one here

There is a lot to chase and many forks in the road, but I am optimistic that I will hit one that will bring me by for dinner.
Just do not know what dinner I will make it for.

Yes, I notice this, polarbeardj, and I find proclamations of yet another badge won by you EVGA boys (hope I don't offend anyone) about every two minutes in my in tray.
Not to worry.
You are not picky, and I shall try to have some sort if dinner ready each night until the Christmas 2017 Race is over by the 25th of December.
I'll let my current top40.nl captain at discover any bear footprints himself

Would that mean you're from Pennsylvania, bcavnaugh ?
As far as I know, we don't put sauerkraut on our hot dogs.
Yet.
Would do it special for you, though

No I am not from Pennsylvania, it is just a name for a sandwich.

A cheesesteak, also known as a Philadelphia cheesesteak, Philly cheesesteak, cheesesteak sandwich, cheese steak, or steak and cheese, is a sandwich made from thinly sliced pieces of beefsteak and melted cheese in a long hoagie roll. Wikipedia

Good stuff, I love Phllies cheese steaks , hotdogs mustard and kraut, or with ketchup, mustard and pickle relish.
Or just a hotdog on a stick over an open fire..
Boars-head makes some really good hotdogs.

I watched those people this year doing the Nathans hotdog eating contest.
My god how and anyone eat 60-70 hotdogs and buns so fast. Gross.
I eat 2 with a small bag of chips and I am good to go.

Does Crunching@EVGA have any Challenges/Races planned with WCG during the month of January 2018?
Not that my crunching counts for much, but since I plan to join you soon for at bit,
it might as well be during a race.

Good Morning EVGAers!
Hearing about your extreme winter weather on the US eastern seaboard, I hope you all are all right
Do you know of a weather/meteorlogy website for the US that doesn’t take forever to load?

I switched to Crunching@EVGA this morning in order to
1. relax
2. to lobby for/beg for participation in Base Camp’s upcoming trek to Hungary.
Yes, Punchy, you were there. Worth going back to, isn’t it?

The trek will take place 15-25 of January. Realizing that most of you are busy no end, I have designated one – just one day – Saturday January 20 as our peak day where I hope as many Base Campers as possible from here and elsewhere will join so we can make a spike. I don’t want to upset or interrupt any plans you may have and I want to maintain a pleasant working relationsship with my current captain bcavnaugh

Team Hungary lives here
They are no less than 876 current members. Their production is not all that large, so a Base Camp trek should be able to leave its mark. They have a WCG team thread hereIt has not been posted in since 2012. I made a post yesterday in English and Google Translate Hungarian without any response. Yet. I can see on the counter that some have been courious. They are cautious people. Hungary has had a difficult history.

Since they are so many members, it shall be almost impossible for me to look you up when/if you join, so I should be grateful if you would take the trouble and check in at the front desk: the Base Camp thread – please see my link.

Finally, I cannot help noticing your successful hunt for badges, so – and I know it doesn’t have the merit of a squirrel or rowan berries – I have designed a badge that will be made available to all who have donated one – just one – WU or more by the end of the Hungary trek.
One more perk:
You will be issued free tickets for Base Camp’s Grand Galla Trek to team SNURK & Friends in September.
I wish you pleasant shoveling and plowing – do take care!
Did you bring your penguins indoors?  little mermaid/anne-lise

This shows just how cold its been here.

Thank you, bill1024. So considerate of you
When I clicked the link, I got:
"This is somewhat embarrassing, isn't it?
Sorry, we couldn't find what you were looking for, but please enjoy these articles from our site."
So, I enjoyed an article about a barge almost colliding with some deer on the ice covered Hudson. I didn't see that much ice the winter I lived there.
Yes, I hear that you have had a good deal of snowfall and awfully low temperatures. I hope it's over for this time, and that you all are well.
This is the badge Base Camp deals in return for at least 1 WU in our Hungary trek

Good Morning!
I left you early to make arrangements for Base Camp's trek to Hungary
I hope some of you would be interested in joining for a bit.
You'll have - I hope - the necessary information here
I shall, of course, be back with you some enchanted day in the future

I just remembered and it is a wee bit too late.

Thank you so much, bill1024. Prime memory.
This is our weirdest trek ever. Host doesn't talk, but we doubled their output easily thanks to a few select crunchers. Still, Hungary is silent.
