Looking for some advice here. Running X299 Dark water cooled with a 7900x and 1080ti. Graphics is running real smooth but my physics scores are terrible. Pull sub 10k consistently when other comparable rigs are getting in the 15k area. I have tried with stock and overclocked up to 4.7. Both with xmp and stock memory settings. Memory is Gskill 4x8g 3777 cas17. Full build specs in my modrigs. All items are new for a ground up build. Did a memory test and it checked out fine. No funny lights. No heat issues. OS is windows 10 with performance power enabled. I am thinking it is something simple that I am overlooking. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have been banging my head for some time now. My scores are in my mod rigs link as I do not yet have enough posts to put up links.

api 1.5 Yes, I need to fix my images bit. Was going to tidy that up once I get the final images up. Still messing around with cables and such. I really like the case quality and visual appeal but it is a pain the rear for getting everything to route without looking like a mess. Thanks for the tip on fixing those

How were your scores before Bios 1.0.6 while on 1.0.4? What do you have running in the background? In PXOC after you set your OC on your GPU EXIT PXOC then Benchmark.

nothing extra. Only things on this rig so far are PXOC, Eleet, Steem, 3dmark and bitdefender. I've gone through task manage to make sure nothing was running in the background that should be there. PXOC crashes the 3dmark tests if left open when running so I do have to close it each time. Not sure if that is a symptom or not of this issue.

Could just be because you are using the Steam Version and not the Standalone Version of the Benchmark Software. So Steam is running in the Background taking CPU power. Or Just not that great of a CPU, it is all in the Draw (Silicon Lottery).

The steam version crossed my mind too. The silicon lottery bit has been slightly in the back of my mind but didn't think I could lose all that bad. You may be right on that and I may just have had my expectations way to high on this is the real problem. Just to make sure I leave no stone unturned I'm going to see how high I can get the CPU to clock out at and test again. 5.5 on a 360slim rad is out of the question I'm sure but I'll find the ceiling and retest. Project for tomorrow night. I really appreciate the time you have taken to take a look and offer your insight. Thank you!!!

One thing you might try. Go into your bios and under advanced...turn off C States...save and reboot. Then see how much higher your PhysX score will be. I did an experiment after reading this. Seems that when running benchmarks...my cpu will still drop down to 1200 MHZ where as when I turn off C states...stays locked at 4.4 GHZ. Made a difference in my scores.

I have been testing this for the last few days. (I do have CPU C States Disabled) One Item I have found on this MB is I have not found a workaround for EIST and Turbo is connected so if you disable EIST it also Disables any OC you set. I have mine set to 4600MHz but CPU seems to say around 4300MHz @90% Usage and @0% Usage @4600HHz. New Tech New Way of Overclocking I guess.

Flash them again, then reinstall drivers. If persists try seeing how many background processes are on your PC.
Got a used >=8gb GPU that you'd like to sell? PM me

You should definitely be getting a higher physics score than that. Do the following... #1 Reseat your cpu. #2 Set bios settings to optimized defaults. #3 Do a clean install of windows. #4 Do another run to get a base line score. #5 Overclock to your highest stable overclocks, and do another run to get a score to compare to your base line score.

@ Sajin Pulled the CPU. Paste spread looked great. Pins and CPU checked out good too. No burns, bends, dust ect. Reset the CPU and realized I'm out of thermal paste. Bummer. I update more tomorrow evening after a clean install and a new baseline score is run. @Bobmitch I was thinking that too and tried that prior to my first post. It did make a difference but only a few hundred points or so. Thank you for the idea. @Nvidiafiend I did reinstall all of the drivers for both motherboard as well the GPU. No love. Will have another fresh install incoming with a clean windows install coming. As for the processes in the background i haven't seen anything yet that should not be running. Prior to each test I was checking and the CPU usage was between %1-%2 and that was largely due to task manager being open. Thank you for the advice.

Solved! The culprit was Bit Defender Total Security 2018. I went and turn off the whole thing and ran a test and everything came alive . Strange as everything else I was checking didn't have any issues, Aida 64 Extreme, Intel Processor Diagnostics ,Cinebench r15 etc. Here is the before and after comparison: www.3dmark.com/compare/3dm11/12615792/3dm11/12615811 Thank you again to all that chipped in with their experience to help!!

Glad you got it sorted out. You even had practice Removing and Reinstalling your CPU without Bending a Socket Pin and Reinstalling the OS to boot. A Note about the EVGA X299 MB is to Install the Drivers from the DVD and allow it to Auto Install them. Then once done you can update as needed. (Same Rule for the X99 Classified MB) If you enable Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 download the Driver from the Below Link. Download Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0

If you continue to use Bitdefender, make sure to put 3DMark folder in your Exception list...BD won't scan while you run benchmarks...

I didn't mind the practice as gave me a reason to double check everything I already did. The issue was really a blessing as I now have played with literally every setting in the MB to see exactly what it really does for a result. As for the Turbo 3.0 I did install it and that's exactly where i got it from. Thank you! Not sure if i am going to fully utilize it yet or not tho.

I think there is something really wrong with CPU performance in 3dmarks with evga mobos i dont know how but some results from asus or asrock are liek 25%-40% higher and to be honest for my scores id doesnt matter if the cpu is at 4,5 or 4,8GHz, the difference isnt noticeable - so if there is no difference between this clock how can there be 40% between 4,8 on evga and 5,1 on asrock? Im talking about this guy f.e.: https://www.3dmark.com/compare/spy/3203275/spy/2961775#overall ofc he wins cause of 2,3ghz on gpu and the difference in like 4,4-6,6% - not that much but on CPU 4,8 vs 5,1 is 39%!!! please explain I had already x299 micro and now FTW, and i would buy dark if it would solve this porblem - cmon EVGA! my scores for comparison if anyone wanted https://www.3dmark.com/fs/14789237https://www.3dmark.com/spy/3203275
