i mine on my gaming rig when not in use...I used saved settings in Afterburner to switch from gaming performance to mining config and back. Pretty easy, though i did take my side panel off for added ventilation. Additional plus is i no longer have to pay for heating my place as my pc now does that

Your gaming rig is heating your place up??  Small place or crazy setup?

Vega is ok at ETH but is a beast at Cryptonight.  You can get it to the point where you're doing 1800+ H/s and you'll be pulling in a much larger amount of cash with Cryptonight than you would with ETH.  Remember, mine smarter, not harder.

I'm still a numb at this so thank you for the suggestion.
Was looking into it and see that its part of the Nicehash program? Downloaded that also and was looking into expanding myself.

TO be picky, depending on the game I often mine WHILE gaming.
My current gaming system is WAY overkill for a lot of the games I like to play, but I DO have to shut down mining to play Ashes.

The 2 current primary Monero mining programs are XMR-STACK (which doesn't get along with Nicehash servers as of last time I checked) and Cast-XMR (which doesn't play real well with older cards but is well optimised for Vega and DOES work with Nicehash servers).
I'm not sure what Nicehash is using for it's Monero mining right now, but it's not a good choice if you are running Vega cards.

Also, to get the really HIGH hashrates out of a Vega right now, you have to use the AMD "Blockchain" driver version, which flat out does not work on Windows 7 (it might work on 8, I don't run 8 on anything so no way to find out), does work on 10, and doesn't work AT ALL with Vega on LINUX at this point (it's a known issue that is supposedly being worked on by AMD, but AMD has long put LINUX support/updates on a back burner).

You can get to 1200-1300 hash/s or so without the blockchain driver on a Vega, but the 1940 (appx) I see out of my Vega 56 (and the 1800-2050 other folks report, usually needing a BIOS mod for the 1950+ rates) require that driver.

*SUPPOSEDLY* the "large page support" got rolled into the mainstream driver a few versions back, but the miner programs don't seem to have figured that out yet or it's not working properly with them (or they need to be updated to work with the version in the new drivers).

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

Is anyone able to recommend an algorithm choice on Nicehash? I’m located in the US and using a single Titan XP on Windows 10.

I’m asking while looking at the Sellers>CPU/GPU page where it asks for an algorithm and location. I’ve noticed Pascal is listed and my Titan XP is Pascal based. Should I be messing with this page or is it best to move straight into the downloadable software?

Titan Xp is very similar to the 1080 ti in performance and power usage per the few posts I've seen talking about it.
It should do well on 1080 ti friendly algorithms, including Lyrav2Rev2, lbry, equihash, nist5, possibly neoscrypt.
It also did well on Skein but I think that got taken over by the Baikal ASIC units.

This is not an all-inclusive list, with 100 or more different algorithms in use now by 400+ different coins it's not practical to keep track of ALL of them for most of us, and a lot of the algorithms are only used for coins with a VERY small market cap and network hashrate that tend to have highly variably profitability even by Cryptocoin mining standards.

No i dont mine and i no longer [link=mailto:F@H]F@H[/link] either. now as far as crypto currency goes? no never will either, with bitcoin AMD cards had an advantage but still when you factor in how long it takes and how much power consumption to what you actually mined, and then factor in where cryptocurrency is actually accepted and how wildly value of crypto fluctuates it just isnt worth it to me.  now if i could actually mine legitimate USD tender that wasaccepted everywhere that would be a different kettle of fish LOL

i am offended by your sig so you need to remove it.

I always grab my trusty pickaxe teehee. When I'm not mining in minecraft I'm mining in bitcoin land.

Unless your card is 10+ years old, it should be able to play SOME fairly current games - abet on very low settings.

The iGPU on the AMD A10 series CPUs is capable of handling a lot of current games at low or rarely even medium-level settings.

I'm curious what the long-term effects of dual purposing a card are. I mean I have been using an older card for a while and when I used to mine on it, I didn't notice anything and still don't but not sure.

If you keep the card reasonably cool, and if the fan don't die, there are no significant "long term effects".
It's folks that push the cards "to their limits" that have long-term effects on card lifetime.

Ever notice that lots of gaming "enthusiast" sites and reviews are all about "how far can I overclock my card and keep it stable" while most mining guides are about "how far can I turn the TDP DOWN and undervolt while still getting good hashrate"?
