So I may have the latest gpus for my rigs but as for my laptop I'm still somehow making a Dell Inspiron n7110 (cpu integrated graphics) work. I need an upgrade moreso for my design software (Adobe). A touchscreen would be nice as well. Any recommendations?

If you want an EVGA notebook, the SC17 with a 1070 is on sale at an unbelievable price. No touchscreen though.

Thanks for the heads up pimp but I need that touchscreen so I can avoid having to buy a Wacom tablet for digital drawing. Using the pen tool to draw everything is so slow especially when doing client work.

This is the EVGA laptop thread, not sure what you are after.  What kind of dGPU are you looking for?  GTX1060, 1070, 1080?  In this category, most laptops are gamer notebooks, so most are matte and no touchscreens, with the exception that I can think of,  Razer Blade and Pro, Surface Book 2.  Going for a 1050 or 1050Ti there are more options available.

I'd like a 1080 but will settle for lower if there's really no other options with a touchscreen. When I have 2gb .ai files or 4gb .psb files I need to work on in great detail I'll need a strong laptop in front of me. But I really want to avoid using a Wacom so I need a touchscreen. Not really into Razer products but I'll put it on my options.

The only one with a 1080 and touchscreen is the RBP.  Can't recommend it though, besides the 1080 being gimped, performing more like a maxq or overclocked 1070, it has some serious thermal, power delivery and quality control issues.

Okay so I'm open to more recommendations for 1060 and up then! Thanks for the heads up.

Like I said, if a touchscreen is required, the options are very limited.  With a 1070, I don't know any.  With a 1060 and touchscreen, there is the Razer Blade 14. Alienware 13 and Surface Book 2 (15").

Maybe a moderator can move this thread from the EVGA Laptops section to the General Hardware section. This clearly isn't an EVGA Laptop discussion thread.

    Just opened my SC17.

I am a businessman, *NOT* a gamer!!  I'll run spreadsheets, stock trading program and watch YouTube videos.  Nothing more.

    ====Why did I buy this?=====
    1.  It has the HDMI and POWER on the left side together.  This way I can watch videos in bed without the chords roping over me.
    2.  Chiclet keyboard, backlit.
    3.  17" screen size 4k
    4.  10 key full sized keyboard.
No other laptop on the market had these absolute requirements.  Sony Viao had them, but they are out of business.

I just got it up and running 1 hour ago.
    ==== What I despise about the SC17 already ====
    1.  No touchscreen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  What the heck?  2800 dollar laptop?  I didn't think to check.  Who in their right minds sells a 2800 dollar laptop without touchscreen???  SOOOOOO SUCKS.  It's like selling a laptop without Bluetooth.  Who'd-a-thunk?
    2.  Laptop doesn't have removable battery.   Thing is built like a tank.   Every try putting this laptop in your lap?  If I could run it without the battery, it wouldn't weigh as much as my house.
    3.  Keyboard issues.
       - A.  The letters are too tiny.  I don't know if this is a gamer thing, if it is, then ignore.  It just seems like someone on the design team is trying to be cool.
       - B.  Some of the letters are not exactly centered.  Drives my brain nuts!
       - C.  How in the hell am I supposed to read the superscript on the keyboard?  I'm farsighted.  I need reading glasses to see the keyboard.
       - D.  Why did you make the F keys so small, and the arrow keys?  I've got fat fingers.
       - E.  Hevellica for font on keys, not some funky "new" font.  There is a documentary about this, check it out.  Its hard to read.
    4. Should have put at least ONE regular USB port on the left side without having to use an adapter.
    5. No light to indicate charging when laptop is off (even better would be a battery full indicator).

I do like the extra large track pad.

    Just a few counterpoints:

1: This a high end gaming laptop. 99% of laptops that ship with a GTX 1070/1080 do not come with a touchscreen and even a large portion of the 1060 models also lack that feature.

2: most newer laptops (even non gamer ones) also lack this feature. It saves on chassis space, build costs, and weight by removing a ton of plastic for the retention mechanism as well as the plastic needed to encapsulate the actual battery coupled with the fact that batteries in newer laptops are in a flat form factor more akin to a cellphone battery. The battery IS removable and replaceable, you just need to remove the bottom panel of your laptop to access it. Also, as you can see in the following picture here: https://i.imgur.com/geSiE9i.jpg?1 , the battery really isnt that physically large in this unit. It is quite wide, but is very thin. You would shave a bit of weight off by its removal, but not as much as older conventional laptops.

    3: Keyboard
    • a: the size is actually extremely well proportioned to a laptop form factor
    • c: thats more of a personal issue, i personally have no issues seeing the superscript. besides, if your eyesight is really that bad then i assume you normally wear your glasses when using your laptop anyways, making this a moot point
    • d: while this is a BIG laptop, size constraints are still a thing, as well as it being a common industry practice to make these keys smaller to reduce overall keyboard footprint
    • e: this is a gamer aesthetic thing. most gamer branded laptops lack standardized keyboard fonts, favoring more bold ones to set themselves apart from boring standard laptops

Most gaming laptops do not have touchscreen, it is a feature most don't use.  Most gamers prefer Matte Screens over Glossy, because of the reflections. The only 17" gaming laptop with a 4k screen on the market is the Razer Blade Pro, which has some some serious issues with thermals and power supply, and of cours, pricing.

So for your uses, if you are willing to forgo touchscreen, an HP Envy 17" with 4k is perhaps more adequate.

I am writing this on a Lenovo Yoga 920, which has a 4k touchscreen with stylus. I am not really an artist but stylus quality is indistinguishable from my old Surface 2 Pro with Wacom digitizer... except the Yoga has less parallax. :)

I got the Yoga for work and I REALLY like it... Great keyboard, trackpad, stylus, 4k screen, fast enough for my office needs, and extremely thin and light.

I know the Razer has a touchscreen option but it may be JUST a touchscreen with no active stylus support.

I think he was refering to 17" notebooks, smaller screens there are plenty of options, and yes I agree, the Yoga's are nicely built and a lot more reliable than any of the Razer systems. I mentioned the RBP, because I thought he was referring to 17" with touchscreen, certainly can't recommend it because it has thermal and power issues, the gtx 1080 is gimped, and it is way overpriced.
