System: Core i7 6800k Asus X99-A II 32 GB RAM (2x16) 2x GTX 970 FTW in SLI 3x Dell P2715Q 4k @ 60Hz Connections for the Monitors are 2x DP 1.2, and 1x HDMI 2.0. I am trying to run these monitors in 2D Surround for a final resolution of 11520x2160, but the only option I have is 5760x1200. I have tried all sorts of connection combinations, but nothing is changing. I am running the latest Geforce drivers 390.65. These cards only have these connections: 1x HDMI 1x DP 1x DVI-I 1x DVI-D And the monitors have these input connections: 1 x DisplayPort 1 x Mini DisplayPort 1 x HDMI (MHL) Any ideas on why I can't get the full surround resolution and why I am stuck on 5760x1200? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Cool GTX! I've tried that tool, but that has the connections for the reference GTX 970s from Nvidia, which has 3x DP and 1x HDMI and 1x DVI-D, which doesn't match what the EVGA GTX 970 FTW cards have as noted in my first post. So I'm not sure how much it helps or applies to my setup.

Yup, tried that combination, and it didn't change anything. The only option for resolution stayed at 5760x1200.

Maybe a driver issue? Try doing #2 listed here to correct any driver issues.

Are you planing to try and game at 11,520x2160 resolution? If so I'm afraid you're in for some disappointment as 2 GTX 970's are not going to be enough to drive such a massive resolution in really any of today's games with reasonable frame rates. Maybe some older eSports games like CS:GO or DoTA2 will run at medium/high settings with playable frame rates but that's about it. You would really need GTX 1080Ti's in SLI to attempt that resolution in modern games. Having said that, have you tried creating as custom resolution for your Surround grouping in Nvidia control panel? Have you verified all monitors are running at 4k resolution when not in a Surround grouping? Also for multimonitor you have to connect at least one of the displays to the lower card in a SLI setup. EDIT: Take a peek at this video. This is a video running 2 Titan Xp's in SLI with 4 4K monitor setup. He only manages 24fps in Crysis 3 at high settings and only 50fps with medium settings. Take into consideration that 1 Titan Xp is faster than 2 GTX970s in SLI and you can begin to see the magnitude of horsepower you need to drive such ridiculous resolutions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=211Vdi4oC9o

Cool GTX: All 3 are currently set to 4k @ 60Hz (3840x2160). Haven't tried only 2 monitors. Will try that next. CraptacularOne: Nice name BTW. Yeah, I figured that is the case, but still wanted to try just as a fun exercise, and to see what it can do. Wish I had the money for 2x 1080 Ti's! I haven't tried making a custom resolution, do you have a link to instructions for that? Thanks.

Even with two displays, both plugged into one card, I am only getting a single option for a surround resolution of 3840x1200. I guess I'll look at drivers next.

Just got off the phone with Nvidia support and after some more cable swapping, it looks like the HDMI connection is what is causing headaches. When only two DP cables are plugged in (one per 970), I get the correct option for surround resolution 7680x2160. When it is one HDMI connection and one DP connection, I get the wrong resolution. Next step is to try a DP to HDMI cable to see if that will make it work.

Just did 2 monitors both connected using HDMI, and got the correct surround resolution. Once I find a HDMI to DVI-D connector, we'll see if I can get the correct 3x surround resolution. Since HDMI and DVI are most similar.

Dr.Death A single dual-link DVI connection can deliver up to 2560 × 1600 at 60 Hz. Achieving 4K at 60Hz requires two dual-link DVI cables, or DisplayPort 1.2 or HDMI 2.0
make sure your cables will support true 4k
Yeah, it looks like I'm limited to DP -> HDMI and hope it all works. If it doesn't then I'm looking at new GPUs to get 3x4k in Surround.

If those were my monitors I would set them up for 2K with the highest refresh rate possible and enjoy the gaming.

Got it to work! The fix was to get an active DP -> HDMI adapter. After I installed and rebooted my system I had the option to do the max resolution expected. So now all three monitors are powered by the same connection type. I suspect a HDMI -> DP adapter, with the other two screens hooked up to DP directly would also work, but didn't test it out. Thank you to all who gave ideas and suggestions!!

noice I would still consider just a 1080ti before putting two 970s in sli... but for right now, that'll do.
