I am sure that EVGA will release a update but it will probably take a bit of time as they will want to test it and make sure it works right.

Well like I said, EVGA told me they are working on it, at least for our X99 boards. They've already had lots of time, that's why the whole January 9 date existed, was to give vendors time to get the patches ready so they would all drop simultaneously with the announcement of the vulnerability.

EVGA is still at the mercy of intel in releasing the patches for various chipsets and processors which they can then incorporate in their updates.

Just processors - it's a microcode update.

So far. Do you disagree EVGA is awaiting intel?  If not...???

Has anyone tried the new 2.04 bios yet? I've heard reports that Intel pulled their update due to reboot loops but I don't know if our X99 boards would be affected.

Running it now. Have taken my conversation over to the official thread https://forums.evga.com/X99-BIOS-Update-with-Spectre-updates-m2750724.aspx#2750853
The updates are still on the intel site. Where did you hear these reports?

Thanks for the link to the other thread! I see that I have the exact same board and processor as you, so it's promising that it worked for you.  The article that caught my eye was this one because I have a Haswell (turns out I can't post links - Google "ZDNet Meltdown-Spectre firmware glitch: Intel warns of risk of sudden reboots")

That does not apply to X99 platform. That is for Z97 Haswell based machines. Their updated uCode version 23 has flaws. X99 is based on the Xeon server platform so we share the Xeon uCode which is currently version 3B and appears to be reliable. If you accept the massive performance hit it gives in conjunction with the latest Windows Updates applied.

Ah, makes sense.  All I could find in discussions was about v23 when I knew mine was going to go from 3a to 3b according to the release notes. Thanks for confirmation!

Did you guys know that the new BIOS breaks the SSD performance, check your SSD IOPS.
It didn't affect my HDD/RAID that I can tell, but SSD took a 60% hit in IOPS\

I hope that's not how this will go down in the end.

I went back to.2.04 but not because of a SSD Performance which is really a mute point IMO.

Just thought I would post it here, I spent about a week trying to figure out why.
First I noticed Star Citizen was running & loading slow, and choppy. I checked my SSD.
After reading a lot of post about SSD running slow at Samsung forums.
I thought it was the firmware, chipset drivers, magician software, I even did a fresh install of nearly 3 yr old OS.
I also found that Windows was using out dated chipset, so fixed that as well.
then I remembered i updated the bios to 2.04
rolled back to 2.03 problem was solved.

It just did not occur to me it was the BIOS.

Not a problem the SSD and Spectre issue is posted all over here on the Forum.
It is not just a X99 Issue is all.
Also EVGA Pulled a lot of the Spectre Bios because of bad Intel Microcode.
