Years ago the head of The Creatures, Kootra, was in the middle of streaming while they still worked out of a office and he got swatted. Prior to that they ALWAYS streamed a ton every week however I continue to be a firm believer the swatting incident is what made them stream a lot less. Even after they left the office and went back to a house based setting. Hell I remember when Markiplier moved to Los Angles and within a year and a half of being there I think he mentioned having to move 2-3 times due to stalkers. Swatting and stalking are 2 things no streamer or youtuber ever wants to deal with. Now recently due to a real bad incident at a gaming con no streamer\youtuber is willing to accept homemade food of any kind due to potential hazards.

CoD isn’t the only problem when it comes to this. Anyone that calls in a “swatting” prank should be immediately treated as if they were attempting murder for this exact reason. Sadly, this one didn’t end in an attempt for the innocent victim :-( this one should be considered homocide.

was this a case of mistaken identity because " His family told local media that he was not involved in online gaming." this was quoted on that news report just next to the picture of the accused.
O.k. I get it now, will person that gave the fake address, will he get charged with anything as he along with the person that made the phone call are both part of this man losing his life

It's the type of person and the genre that plays it. You don't see people swatting racing or flight simulator players. Shooter games in general attract the trailor trash of the pc gaming community.

Actually this has nothing to do with gaming. It has to do with irresponsible, rude, self serving people that have been so blinded by there mind set, and feel so entitled by it, they care nothing for others. Totally inconsiderate to the point that this individual may not even have regard for the life of others. If this didn't happen with a video game, it could have quit easily happen through some other activity that the guy was offended by. These people are beyond their teen years, they should be thinking about what the hell they are doing.

What happened was the guy they were harassing finally had enough and said oh ya, im not afraid of you, you want my address here it is........ but it was a fake address, and that's the address that got swatted. So the guy that got killed didn't know what the heck was going on at all. It was all over a $1.50 bet and it turned out that the swatter was in some recovery institution too. This type of activity should have been dealt with a long time ago when it first started. He has priors and started his own web service just to swat people for other people, so this guy deserves to hang!!
