BIOS 2.03 Updates 

• Update ME to 11.8.50.3425 for improving Intel ME security.

This BIOS is intended to fix reported issues with a potential Intel Management Engine vulnerability on Z170 motherboards.

Windows Installation

• Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:

         151-SS-E179-KR - EVGA Z170 Classified
         142-SS-E178-KR - EVGA Z170 Classified-K
         140-SS-E177-KR - EVGA Z170 FTW
         111-SS-E172-KR - EVGA Z170 Stinger

• First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
• Close all open programs.
• Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and update.bat
• Press Y to start the flash process
• DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
• After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
• NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.

  
BIOS Installation

• Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
• Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS

• From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
• Select the .bin file you wish to flash.

Nope not yet not even sure I am going to just had gut feeling not to with the waay my luck has been past year knowing me it will brick my board.
 
Not a huge concern for me anyways still on 1.08 bios
 
But I surely do not know how to use EEPROM if it does been reading up on it a little since you posted

yes, but back to 2.02 I'm afraid, and the technical support is asking me if I can send to them a picture of my socket: S, i don't know for what purpose

Why wouldn't you show them if they needed to see it?
 
Advanced RMA when they diagnose have a new board in a day about, pack yours up ship it back done. Worst case that best case identify a issue solved and your good to go
 
 
EVGA hands down unbeatable support and backing of their products why I mess with no other unless they don't make it. They should be the only role model followed in industries literally over a decade since I started using their products aaand I compare all other businesses to them never seen a one come close.
 
If I had the money now I would dump GSkill and replace my memory + mouse + this jaacked up double triple letter typing gskill ripjaws keyboard that they DONOT aadvanced RMA
 
 
Show em whaat they need get new board or just reflash again brick it so you dont have to be yaa or nah
 
 
 


my motherboard works just fine, im form Argentina, if i have to pay the customs for import a new RMA motherboard i'm done, i prefer keep mine with 2.02 bios.

Same thing happened to me. Contacted EVGA support and they are sending me a new chip. I don't have access to a programmer. I flashed my other board w/o issue my doing a BIOS reset first, then flashing from a USB drive. 

i knew it, is a bios problem, they need fix the bios file.

The bios updated fine for me. Tho the initial boot process did take a few moments longer than previous bios updates have done.
 

Yesterday i can update to 2.03 successfully, today when i wake up turn on the pc and "C" code again, the pc does not boot, so, i had to reflash 2.02 with EEPROM programer, i tought the bios chip is corrupted or something, but this only happens with 2.03, the 2.02 and 2.01 works just fine

My PC gets a post code "98" after my bios flash from 2.02 to 2.03 and stays there with no splash screen on my Z170. I know the code means "Console Input Devices Connect." Ive tried everything... assuming it is a keyboard and mouse issue (resetting cmos, unplugging all devices from the I/O). I don't know what else to do. I'm in a full custom waterloop in a SFF case so it would be a giant pain to have to replace a MOBO... any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you set the Bios back to the Default Settings before updating?
Make sure if USB KB is in use to use the Upper connecter on the I/O when you update the Bios.

 

So, I did set to default. But I also used the Windows install not a usb flash.

My reference is about the Keyboard being plugged in not from where the Bios is installed from.

But then only update EVGA's Bios from inside the Bios now that they allow us to.
I have Never updated an EVGA Bios from within the OS, Dell Computers yes but not a EVGA Motherboard.

I am using the corsair k70... kind ofa pain in my butt if you me (comes with two USB cables. one 3.0, one 2.0). I will try using a different keyboard, specifically a 2.0 one when I get home.
This seems to be an extremely uncommon problem but doesn't seem like a hardware problem. knock on wood. I will keep you posted.

so, is there anything else needed other than this bios upgrade and the windows patch? 

For the Management Engine vulnerability, no.  For Meltdown and Spectre, yes - potentially another BIOS update (depends on whether the OS' ability to reload microcode after boot is sufficient to mitigate this) and potentially more OS updates (to optimize the mitigation technique and reduce the performance hit).
