What's EVGA Forum Members,

Working for EVGA has been a privilege for me. Monitoring the forums, there are so many enthusiasts with great looking builds. Although we have to remain professional as a staff member, this build is just to show appreciation to the enthusiast community. We're not just working as tech/customer support. We're around a group of people who are enthusiasts and enjoy building/gaming PC's. This will be a personal build that will go into a spare bedroom dedicated to enthusiasts on the EVGA Forums. So I decided to take it to the forums. I'm currently in the process of re-doing my build from the ground up and building to your suggestions and what you guys would like to see.

I have with me the DG-86 Chassis completely torn down and being prepped to paint, it would be my first time painting a chassis so if you have tips on painting chassis I'm all open for it (I have family members that own auto-body paint shops so I would have all the equipment I'd need for this).  What type of theme or color scheme would you guys like to see?

Spare parts I have laying around. Any suggestions or anything you'd like to see let me know! I'll try to incorporate it into this build. (this is being funded by myself, no sponsors involved. Please be gentle :'D.) I do want a custom loop in here. Drop a suggestions of the Blocks/Res/Pump/Rad you're using.

some very nice paints from this place https://specialistpaints.com/pages/frontpage  they are ment for cars and bikes though, if you are goin with RGB lighting why not try a flip paint the case would also change colour when the different led lights hit it.

That's so freaking awesome! I'm excited to see where this build goes. I would suggest checking out the EK Fluid Gaming gear. Those fittings and blocks look amazing!

The Primochill VUE liquid is a MUST! Check it out, its absolutely NUTS!

Definitely will look into that. I do have an obscure amount of the Corsair HD12 RGB LED fans. So lighting/RGB lighting should be covered. The paint idea sounds pretty cool! I'll look into this.

The Primochill VUE liquid has been featured on JayZ2cents and that is definitely cool. I've read so many reviews where it's actually cleaning the block itself. So the VUE liquid will be in this build! Thanks for the suggestion! Any suggestion on the paint color of the chassis?

Re: Enthusiast Suggested Build 2017/12/13 15:09:08 (permalink)
I would personally pick a color scheme between liquid color, and lighting, then play to that with the paint.
I think a tri color case scheme would look SICK.

1 color inside, and 2 tone exterior.

White interior always looks super clean and makes the lighting pop as well as the liquid and components. So that's an idea, you could also do a two tone interior, white foundation and UV reactive paint design on top of it that's only seen under UV light. This would add some sick effect to it.

As for exterior two tone, I would base that heavily on the liquid color you choose and component, blocks, and couplings color you go with.
Maybe clear rigid tubing? ;)

This build is getting awesome just thinking about it lol

Having lots of fun imagining it up. Thanks for sharing and letting us live vicariously through you!

Thanks! So I've started prepping. Colors will be Pearl White with Teal Accents on buttons and fittings. I'll post pictures up this weekend when I have the spare time. Clear Rigid tubing.

Hardware labs black ice SR2's are very very nice radiators, a little more pricey than the usual, about $10-20 more, but the fin density, amount of additional ports, etc makes up for it surely.
Monsoons MMRS Style 8 combo pump\res would look very proper if you went with an SR2. I would pick it up from PPCS as you can customize the cable sleeves, colors, etc. (it's a very bright white unit)
If you're looking for something not as flashy and more generic, EKWB combo-res D5\DDC units are proper, definitely wouldn't let you down. They're usually all black, I believe EKWB did just come out with RGB pump\res D5 units as well.
I recently worked with monsoons hardline fittings, they were great but you still haven't specified if you're doing a soft tube or a hardline loop, so I'm not sure where to go about suggesting fittings to you :) ... Regardless of that, if you want quality it'd be bitspower of course. They are pricey though.

What kind of tube size are you looking to do? I look forward to the progress of the build, of course. :)

Hey Snuwfer. I'm going to do hard tubing. I was looking at primochills fittings. But I can definitely look in bitspower. If anything I can always repaint fittings. I'm looking at the site you've mentioned. That's pretty good pricing. I'm not planning on going with the cheapest thing I can find. But I am looking at Function/Form/Price <- in that specific order. Do you have any recommendations on tube size?

I've got to say, I've torn down some cases in my life. This was the most difficult one I've done so far, but completely torn down and primer is going on in a bit.

Since you have it torn down at that level you could consider RGB light strips instead of the standard white light. At that level of a teardown it's a pretty easy change out.

Re: Enthusiast Suggested Build 2017/12/15 09:42:57 (permalink)
Primochills hardline fittings would do just fine, and as they offer them in a bright white I think it'd be more suitable to the build.
Tube sizing depends on you really, there is no cons and benefits other than smaller tubing being easier to bend \ mend with compared to bigger tubing.
If you do go with Revolver Compressions or RSX's, pick up some primochill tubes while you're at it. Never heard anything bad about their tubes, most people recommend their tubes that I've seen.

If you plan on putting the GPU into the loop; EK-FC1080 GTX Ti FTW3 - Nickel would look spicy in there. For CPU, there's quite a few brands you can go to, but I'd personally go for a heatkilller VI Pro, or an EKWB Supremacy Evo. (The white edition of the Supremacy Evo would look superb, however if you want to get primochill vue a clear top block would possibly be better for the theme.)

The saddest thing happened last night ='[. I had finished putting back the chassis, fully painted. I left it in my vehicle as I was a bit tired to lug it upstairs as I had moved into a new apartment all day. Unfortunately, someone smashed my Windows and the chassis is now missing ='[. The messed up part is ... the doors were unlocked (I never lock my doors). As I live of a 2 minute walking distance from the police station.

Fortunately, it was just the chassis in my car so I can always purchase a new chassis. Now I'm starting over, anyone have a chassis suggestion so I can restart/resume.

that sucks mate hope they catch who ever done it. It doesn't matter if it was just the case that got lifted, you put in a lot of work stripping it down to paint it for some lowlife to steal it. I would check local selling pages to see if they have posted on that

Corsair 780T if you want a full size chassis. A Corsair 570X if you want a smaller size and want RGB lighting.

Would love to seen that person face, when they looked inside the case to find nothing in it.

Re: Enthusiast Suggested Build 2018/01/14 13:03:42 (permalink)
What's up everyone, so due to my loss of time doing the other case. I got impatient and started on the look for another case and ended up with the H700i. Overheard a co-worker talking about it. I started putting the system together, despite not having my waterblock for my GPU and the liquids. I just used what I had at hand. So apologize for the messy loop. I ran into some issues, the Res had to be mounted to the Rad due to spacing with the GPU. My 1080 Ti did not fit properly on the first slot so I had to move it down to the next available slot. After I get the waterblock on, it should fit just fine. The heatsink for the FTW3 has a heatpipe that is extended and hitting the Pump. Overall, I like this case. Very clean design for cable management on the back. Things I'm waiting for due to my budget from the chassis are:

-Teal Fittings
-PETG Tubes (EKWB)
-PSU + Sleeves (bought from EVGA.)
-EKWB 1080 Ti FTW3 Waterblock
-Cablemod LED's x]

Currently sitting on

H700i
Asus Z270 AR
Intel i5 7600k (4.2ghz o'clocked well under in temps)
32GB DDR4 Trident Z 3000mhz
2x Samsung Evo 960 250gb (it was a steal at just under a hundred a piece)
1x WD HDD 1tb
GTX 1080 Ti FTW3
4 Corsair SP Fans RGB W/Controller
750 Corsair CX PSU

EKWB Performance 280 Kit I had laying around.
And some really ugly UV lime liquid from EKWB.

I ordered the Vue in teal =]

Sorry for the liquid used, I'm waiting for the liquid ordered, I received the teal but it's probably more attractive to use the white liquid x]. Just also ordered the ftw3 waterblock from EKWB and hoping it comes in soon. I want to see if I can knock out the bending in one day!

Hue lights are used in this image if anyone is curious. :P
