Titan V 1440p rise of the tomb raider @ max settings...

LOL. Fail. Definitely not a gaming card. My kingpin gets those numbers.

How do we know that's from a Titan V?

The mem clock gives it away.

It's 10% faster than a Nitrogen-cooled 1080 Ti!

1080 Ti at 2.5 GHz (basically a 40% overclock over stock)! Then add 10% more on top of that!

I can always back someone that is using equipment as it was designed to be used.

Did you replace new Wallpaper...
That's closest we can get from new 3000$ worth GeForce.

1000-1200$ is price, better to say point who separate people who are ready to pay insane price from insane people.
Somehow price of TITAN V doesn't allow us to be jelous on people who pay him, because no one is jelous on diagnose.
Better to ignore like nothing happen.
Everyone is angry because something... we because can't afford NVIDIA GeForce, other because can't connect two of them in SLI.
On SLI you lose 4000$ for 18-24 months if only 70% of this model show up for less than 1000$.

If Volta is expensive, maybe price of GTX1080Ti K|NGP|N Hydrocopper or TITAN XP will drop on normal range.

Now what we need is a Titan V Kingpin Edition that has all power & voltage limits removed and ships with an external phase-change cooler

Well, in all honesty it's gonna take some time before we get a game that supports 1080 Ti SLI but doesn't work 60fps @ 4k.

No need for phase change.
Enough to NVIDIA give permission to Vince and Tin to do what they want with board and voltage regulation and customers will get 30% faster, 100% better and 1000% nicer hardware.

Because the Star Wars Titan edition card wasn't enough....

Just more proof the Star Wars cards were a shrewd cash grab to dump inventory in preparation of Titan V. Those saying Titan V will be $3000...is Nvidia insane? $3000 is not a consumer price point.

This is not a consumer card, so it shouldn’t be a consumer price point. This card is specifically aimed at deep learning. It is specifically a quadro/Tesla variant of Titan.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/titan/titan-v/#shop

Not “will be”... “is”

Titan has always been defined as a consumer product line. Not my problem if you and Nvidia want to play fast and loose with revisionist history. The $3k for a card is a bold move by Nvidia. Bleed the fanboys till it hurts Nvidia. Good job.

I guess I want to rewrite revisionist history because NVidia changed their minds..... what??? how does that make any sense at all?

Clearly you haven’t read through the thread. Take your time, I started posting at the beginning.

*Edit* Maybe you were joking.. either way, nvidia made a second stupid move.. just like the Titan X. Their ignorance will bank them plenty of money because some gamers are clearly too stupid to realize nvidia doesn’t want them buying this.

After cutting DP down on the Titan X Maxwell, which was labeled GEForce Titan X, they themselves moved the card “away from gaming” and more toward a different market.. that was when they dropped GEForce and named the Pascal edition the NVidia Titan X, then Nvidia Titan Xp... notice they never sent the Nvidia Titan X/Xp to gaming card reviewers... did you forget about that? this just moves further away from the consumer market. If you want to say “you and Nvidia” you can take that attitude up with them.. I can’t help their actions, period.

Has anyone else noticed that the Titan V Hall of Fame benchmarks on 3D Mark have all vanished?

example, scores and everything are still attached, but no info on the card or the person that ran the bench. https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/13619847/fs/14371827
Any scores posted have been erased so far, even though some have screen shots for proof..  I wonder why it is being hidden?

Yes, I'm being humorous. After all, nothing says computational supremacy than a last season chip dressed up in Star Wars clothing marketed during Black Friday.

Back to Titan V...thing is there are two types of people who will buy this -- HPC people that want the computational power (curing arse cancer one bitcoin at a time) and hardware posers that see Nvidia and $3000 and don't think too deeply other than that (the iPhone X effect). On the second point, Nvidia missed the mark by a bit -- not enough RGB lighting for their $3000. Either way, CES will be here shortly and we're going to be hearing about this card till we're sick of it in the next few weeks.

I forecast the buyer's remorse in about 3-4 months when the Volta GTX1180ti or 1280ti or whatever they'll call it drops for $700 doing 115% the gaming performance of the Titan V. As is, Titan V are already partial junk bin laser cuts from the Tesla batch that people are still going to lose their minds over. Tech marketing is profound voodoo. Nvidia has made an art out of selling rejected bin parts as a premium product over the last decade. Honestly, that is the most impressive thing about the Titan V in my eyes....not how fast it can compute pi to the nth degree or how many sharks with freaking lasers 3DMark 2018 paints on my screen. People are lined up to purchase a QA failed Tesla part for $3000 a pop. Nvidia really should go into politics with that sort of boldness.

tl;dr: Nvidia is enthusiastically selling snow-cones to Eskimos.

Well said from both of you Scarlet and Brad.  Valid points all around.  The only smart ones were the ones that purchased Nvidia stock when it was in the $20-$30 before they started milking everyone heavily the last few years.  Actually it was AI and deep learning mostly me thinks that got the share jumping for joy and a small percentile from gaming.  For the record, I wasn't one of them cause I'm still broke like I was yesterday or 10+ years ago. lol

For this price NVIDIA should present hardware less than 80% stronger than TITAN XP.
Below 65-70% is bad.

The per year numbers look impressive until you factor in the price of the card. It would take over a year and a half just to hit ROI with this card. That's a min 18 months or 540 days.

Oh, noticed during the breakdown, there is no shroud light at all. The side says Titan instead of NVidia, and the logo is shiny metal it would seem, but no cable or light on this card.

I think they need to fix some of the drivers on this card, the mining video showed it was under 60C on air most of the time lol.

Man, this thing is a beast of a different color for sure.
I'm curious if it can be tweaked to perform better at mining.

Cant wait for the 11 or 12 series for my gaming rig though :)

Why does it show sim time per frame as +82% to the positive for the e5... lower time is better by far... it is not good to have +82% slower frame times. They really need to fix that.

Also, an extra $2000 for a 10% increase... lol! They keep proving more and more that this definitely wasn’t meant for consumer market.

Different cpu is the cause for the increased sim time per frame.

Understand, but it should not show a green scale toward the higher time. That is wrong. The green bar should be 82% to the 7980Xe. This is a 3D mark hall of fame error that needs to be fixed. The green bar shows which item is better, and in this case, slower is worse, not better.

Also, I said an extra $2k for 10% increase... I forgot that was on K|ngp|ns ln2 runs. So I guess it would be better to compare it to an average users scores.

Re: Surpise TITAN V announced! 2017/12/12 14:53:54 (permalink)
They really should've called it something else and not name it Titan.  Everyone be thinking this is a gaming card but it sits closer to a Tesla instead of a Titan in performance even thought its closer to a titan than a tesla in terms of pricing.  All the issues would've been solved with a new name for this cut down Tesla.  Its basically a Tesla with display ports for video output.  If they had taken a $10-15k tesla and stick a display port on it and then introduced it under some new name it would've been better received because the gamers would've completely ignored it.
