Looking to upgrade to a single 1080ti from SLI 980ti's.  My choices have come down to the two listed in the subject.  I can pick up the ASUS now or wait for the EVGA elite to come back into stock. What are your opinions on both of these cards.  My setup is below.  Thanks in advance for the advice!

System Specs: Intel i7-7700k @ 4.8ghz, Noctua NH-U14S, Asus ROG Max. IX Code, 16GB GSkill Trident Z RGB DDR4 3600, ASUS STRIX GTX 1080TI OC, ACER XB270HU, 1x Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD 240GB (OS), 1x SanDisk Extreme Pro 480gb SSD and 1x Intel 730 480gb SSD R0(Games), 1x WD GR Sata3 4.0tb (Programs and Media), 1x BL Sata3 6.0tb (Backups), EVGA 1000 P2, CoolerMaster hafX, Logitech G502,G910, Win10 64bit Home Premium.

Asus is cooler & quieter but Evga is slightly faster out of the box and has better warranty. (I've had both).

Best card is really subjective the ftw ellite if the memory has oc room will probably pass the Asus oc strix up in performance slightly. But will be louder for the same temps so it really depends what your after. But evgas warranty is a very nice bonus

I’ve had an FTW3 (none elite edition), Asus 1080ti OC and two weeks ago bought the FTW3 hybrid.

The Asus has an amazing air cooler I felt, 50% fan speed would result in a 60-65c max temp for me, looks good in a case with a window, clocks well...

Just never ever felt as good as an EVGA card did for me in FPS games. Yes the clock hit 2088Mhz then dipped down to 2063Mhz but just didn’t feel as fluid in frames (can’t explain it). In the end the third fan above the VRM broke which released a burning smell and sent the other two fans that were working to 100% to compensate which they can’t really. Of course this could happen to any newish item but felt I was lucky to get my money back from Amazon after four months use (really didn’t want to deal with Asus customer support) and didn’t think twice about getting another EVGA 1080ti. Loving the 1080ti FTW3 hybrid now.

I’m sure their are plenty of Asus 1080ti oc customers still enjoying their cards! Just not this one hehe.

    Just my two cents.

I'd grab either.. but the hybrid would most likely be the better card as they love cold temps.

it's just a question of would the hybrids slightly higher core clock best the performance of the elite's faster vram. But all the cards are good cards

Don't do it... DO NOT buy Asus products.  BAD RMA service.  I experienced it myself.

It's been several years since I've dealt with ASUS customer support, however for the times I did, I never had any issues accept for understanding people on the phone(ASUS likely has 3rd party call centers in another country). Like Demon pointed out, EVGA is kind of the pinnacle of the GPU world when it comes to their products and warranty. At the end of the day however, chances are you will likely never have to deal with a company's customer service regardless. Asus makes fantastic products, that will more than likely well out-live their warranty period anyway. ASUS has been around for nearly 30 years(about 10 years longer then EVGA) and a company doesn't stay around that long by having poor customer service or having bad business practice in general. I don't see why the upgrade from 2x 980 Ti's in the first place, unless one is trying to escape the recent shoddy SLI support.

No real reason.  SLI on my machine is stable even with overclocking. I like to update when the gear is somewhat worth something than wait too long and it isn't.  Plus its fun to refresh every now and then.

Well, if you put it that way =)  They just took forever and communication issues.  I give them a bit of credit now since they sent me a brand new replacement.
